B2 Visa Denied at LAGOS consulate, when can I re-apply?

Hello follows,

I have being following all posts as a guest, I applied for B2 visa as visitor to USA and I was denied on December 7th because I was not married but the interviewer said "not sufficient money" in account but do have over sufficient money there. my questions are:

When can I re-apply?

2 months or 3 months from now?

When you think I should concentrate on as my strength?

Help me out here, please and thanks in advance!!!!

Unless your circumstances have changed it may be a waste of money.

I'd wait at least 6 months- you can re-apply immediately, but there really is no point unless your circumstances have changed.

What did you show as ties to your home country (close family staying behind, job, property, enrollment in university etc)? What ties/ red flags do you have that might keep you in the USA (family, girlfriend)? Did they ask why you wanted to travel to the USA and for how long and if so, what did you say?

Nigeria is a place where it is nearly impossible to get a visitors visa from. My brother in law is a doctor and still gets denied for visitors visa. If you can save up about 30,000 usd in a bank account or build a house worth that much your chances will improve. ( yes I know how impossible that is more most people in Nigeria)

From family experiences, they want you to show enough money in your account to support yourself on this trip and show strong ties that will bring you back to Naija like a job or a statement of leave from your employer. Even if you were to suddenly have $30,000 in your account tomorrow, they wouldn't approve it either. They will think you borrowed the money just for the visa.

Do you have someone that can invite you and agree to sponsor you? They write the sponsor letter even though you plan to pay your way. Lagos Embassy is very fickle, depends on the mood of the interviewer, time of day, time of the month, you name it. They will find some excuse. They once told my Aunt her bank statement was not recent enough...

Even with thousands in the bank and a sponsor who certifies that he will pay for everything and strong ties to your home country ( house, job, children, wife, ) it still will be unlikey that a B2 will be granted. I have seen the elderly make it sometimes but not the 20, 30 40 year olds. Very unfair and ridiculous but a reality. It will always be assumed that you will not return to Nigeria after your visit is over.

The burden of proof that you will return would be your esponsibility and that is what you should focus on along with a fat bank account build over time and not with a quick out of nowhere but with a sustainable balance and source of good regular income. After all that it will still be unlikely.

We had a Nkanu convention and sent invites to 40 professional people ( doctors, teachers, actors and such ) only 1 got a visitors visa. That rate is typical for applying to for a visitors visas. These people each had a host family set up and was asked to present a topic for the convention and still they were unable to get visas.

I work in the bank for past 11 years and showed my bank statement but I do not have family tie to Nigeria, no wife or kids.

I hate lying and make up things that are not really, what should I do next?

I am planning of applying again soon like April???

With only a job as country ties, there's a slim chance of approval but at least there's still a chance. Good luck!

I guarantee you that if you would provide false info to create ties it will bite you in the butt severely at some point in time. Guaranteed. Don't even think about it. All applications are cross checked for data given.

You can apply again but as others have said here, if nothing has changed then you are just throwing your money away trying.

Unfortunately, I totally agree with what you are saying.

My husband (then boyfriend) tried TWICE (once in 2008 and once in 2009) to get a B2 visa to come visit me here in New York to meet my family and friends.

He has a great job in Nigeria, money in bank accounts, he's part of a popular Lagos hip-hop band, his Dad is a very prominent government chemist, he owns property and has a huge network of friends and business associates there.

All to no avail. He was denied twice without even a second thought.

Oh, and you can forget about any refunding of all the money you spend on visa application fees and processing fees paid up-front before the interview. Unlike the U.K. - the U.K. refunds your visa app fee if you are denied the tourist visa - the U.S. refunds NOTHING.

It is exploitation and unfair in my opinion. If they don't give out B2 then they should stop taking applications instead of taking people's money like that. There are guidelines and what good are they when they are met and denial still happens in an unacceptable high percentage. It is a big joke.
