the nat geo channel did a show on this "dancing boy" culture that i watched earlier this year, it offered interviews with some of the high powered men "buying" these young boys most of whom where younger than 14 since that's when they were considered old. also some of the boys were interviewed as well as the "teachers" who instruct them on dance and former dancing boys who are now soliciiting.

the show for me had nothing to do with islam or muslims and their practices but everything to do with peodophiles and disgusting, dispicable people taking advantage of and vicitimizing children. sickening!

they subersively tried to making tantamount to the geisha sub culture in japan and it's nothing like that at all. geishas are entertainers and primarily have nothing to do with prostitution/sex trade (as i understand it sexual relationships are rare) and they are adults. it was an honor to become a geisha, they are respected in japan. saying it's just teaching the boys to play instruments and dance etc. it was no such thing
