Anyone can translate the documents according to USCIS, but a Certification of Translation is required.

I have been going over the USCIS instructions and this website regarding the English Translations of Documents. Since the instructions can be ambiguous, I wanted to find clarification of what a "Certified Translator" means. Basically, Certified Translator is a person who is fluent in English and the foreign language of the document. Hence, in our portal, English/ Turkish. What the USCIS does require is the CERTIFICATION Letter, signed, name printed, dated, address and phone number of Translator. For example, somebody like Nihal, could certify (it is a statement such as below), a letter as she is fluent in both English and Turkish, and can translate the documents.

I have included this link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/218406-certified-translation-of-docs/ , which I want to make note of the last comment made: "Certified means that the person, can be anybody, there is nothing special about it, includes a statement that they sign and date, that they are proficient in translating and certify this is an accurate translation. They can be anybody and there is not education or credentials required."

Suggested Format of Certifcation Letter for USCIS:

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Signature_________________________________

Date Typed Name

Address

See Tips on Assembly ** You can also find this in several places on VJ site**

Translators in Turkey? What is the going rate per page and do you have any recommendations? What is turn around time?

Ameriturks... all rec's welcomed!!

Thanks and Happy New Years!

HI Mari,

Each page YEMINLI TERCUMAN (sworn translater)translates ,they will sign the page and put their stamp and will say everything is true and correct. (something like that)My husband lives in Eskisehir and they do it for 20 TL there but each city is different, they charge different price.

Hiya Ladies and Gents!

I am working away, praying and hoping my movers will come today to move me into the new office! I'm also praying for sunshine and our Bay Area rain will let up for a couple of days. :innocent:

Kadir ... ugh, I'm really missing him HUGE GIANT BIG !!! (L) I am sure its much like my AmeriTurk Sisters missing their Sweethearts too. (L)

I am so grateful for those of you who have gone through this VJ and are with your husbands or wives today! You give the rest of us hope and inspiration, and dedication to the completion of this VJ. I believe there is an absolute determination which we hang on to because the waiting pains are worth all of this labour.

Well if my movers do not show up today, I'm going to go on every one of your profiles and scribble on your walls!!! :P LOL >looking for my box of crayons<

Love ya!
