my husbands BC had nothing on the back as well. We only sent a copy of the front of it. Had no problems with doing that.

Listed requirements for filing I-129F.. A copy of petitioners Birth Certificate ( Front and Back )

My Birth certificate is Blank on the backside.. nothing to copy.

So is Just a copy of the front ok ?

Hi, we just filed also (I-129F). The back of my BC is also blank. I made a colour copy double sided (front/back on one page-- mine is tan'ish colour so a white page wouldn't do). I wrote on the blank backside, "Back of Petitioner's birth certificate--[name & dob], is blank by the county of [county born and registered in]. I signed and dated it. Simple. Give them what they ask for, and if there is a blank, write that it is blank, sign and date it. Best to you both!

And because im sending in a copy of my BC... that means i do not need to copy all pages of my passport to send in ?

Well, because my Turkish Visa was stamped on page 8, and it was proof we met in person in the last 2 years, I did photocopy (colour) all 24 pages of my Visa. I don't think that is required if you have your US BC though. What's the instructions read?

The instructions, Assembling the I-129f package: checklist.. #11, shown here http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Reads as:

Copy of the Birth certificate (front and back) for the US Citizen or a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport issued with a validity of at least 5 years or a copy of the US Citizen's naturalization certificate (front and back). This is used to establish citizenship.

Send in both. BC and all pages of Passport, it can't hurt. Right?

We only sent his BC front and back, since his very cute lil' footprints were on it! lol

He couldn't find his passport (had fallen down the back of his dresser) and we didn't have any problems.

There's plenty of USCs without passports, so they can't insist on it.

This the best and most comprehensive advice in this thread. Read instructions accurately, interpret them literally, and follow them/answer questions completely & honestly. Edited by TBoneTX

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

In order to prove your American citizenship you can send:

a) Copy of birth certificate OR

b) Copies of all pages of your American passport OR

c) If a naturalized American citizen, a copy of your naturalization certificate

Now -the potentially confusing part- is that even if you send a copy of your birth certificate as proof of your citizenship, you may still want to send a complete set of copies of your American passport in order to prove that you visited your fiancee's (beneficiary) country and prove that you met within the last two years of filing. As such, a complete petition packet may have both: a copy of birth certificate and copies of American passport's pages, but they would be proving different requirements.

Best wishes!
