If not you will get solitary for life with no books, no phone, no visits, no pillow, no sheets, fed on molasses and black bread and water and forbidden to stretch your legs in your cell or they will tazer you and put you in a strait jacket.

Prison conditions apart, what do you think of pit bulls ?

I dislike them intensly. I meet them on the canal towpath coming towards me. They are usually on the end of two or three thick ropes and the owner is some skinny punk with swastikas tattooed on his neck and black circles under his eyes

We could allow the Vicks of this world let the dogs fight and rip each other to pieces and then there won't be any. Or we could put them down and have them banned like they are in other 1st world countries

They are baby killers and we can do without them just like we don't allow people to walk tigers in the street

Actually that would be a good compromise for the tea party folk - not ban them entirely but ban them from public areas and require a dangerous animal license with inspection of the cages - just as we would a grizzly bear or lion.

Speaking of animal abuse and cruelty, can you imagine doing this to a defenseless horse? Beyond sick.

Tullie is a 4 year old filly, coming to us in early June 2007. She has chemical burns on 70% of her body, due to her previous owner mixing lime and transmission fluid and applying it all over, thinking that it would cure mange. The owner did not seek any medical help and allowed her to become starved. She was under weight by 300 pounds on arrival, but has recovered, and now fancies herself the diva of the rescue.

That is doubly good news for ##### cats but the owners look rather unhygienic so it would have to be radiated before canning. I do tend to digress, sorry about that I will try not to wander

personally i like the german laws on this - someone without a badge or gun shows up, takes your animal, you get taken to court and fined - and forbidden from owning another animal again (either in years or permanently).

I quite like dogs generally - I am too lazy to own one and have to walk one and the idea of picking up poop makes me gip.

I raised two kids without ever changing a nappy (diaper) so poop bags slung round my waist and plastic gloves hanging on my belt are not for me

If it wasn't for all that stuff I would have a dog - small end of medium and any color - like my women

When I get rich I could hire someone to do all the inconvenient smelly stuff then I could have dog. The Royals have children on the same basis so it looks like a good plan

They have a sign up saying that they are having a cage fighting contest at the local school - that is for humans of course but it shows a distinct culture difference here - but at least the US does have laws against ####### fighting and dog fighting and generally it seems to have strong disapproval - so that is a big approval tick for the US from me and shows that the country is becoming more and more enlightened with every passing decade and IS up there with other 1st word countries on these issues and in front of Spain.

So now lets ban these horrible dogs (not their fault)from public places or where mailmen etc and children might encounter them

I like the German Police uniform - nice green/sandy color and non threatening but they could look more cheerful.

The English bobbies are in between in their uniform (nice white shirt and tie in the Met) but smile and laugh and are similarly non threatening

The US Police are para-miltary thugs in their projected image and need a serious rework of their uniform and demeanour - at which time they would be more effective and gain more public support. It's still quite possible to butalise and shoot people while smiling pleasantly and wearing a nice uniform - so why not ?

ban the dogs? You are a damn ignorant person if you think that Pit Bulls themselves are any part of the problem.

Their strength is what makes them dangerous, but outside of that, that are not the most aggressive of breeds.

If raised in a loving way, they are actually one of the most loyal and docile dogs you can own.

there you go right there. pitbulls aren't the problem. stupid people that own them & train them to be aggressive is the problem. i've owned several pitbulls..all were great family pets.

Animals like that are inherently dangerous and their owners are the last persons to be able to rate their safety because it's the public that suffers not the owners who are part of the pack and alpha dog

They are fine with their owners but quite likely to kill another animals or a baby or even a full grown man

I don't really like to be called 'a damn ignorant person' but I am comforted by knowing that 1st world governments think like me on this subject and therefore the person who called me that thinks he knows more than entire countries and entire governments and specialists in the field.

He probably knows less about anything than the average pit bull after it's enforced lobotomy and he is probably right now, looking to buy a pack of them on ebay, now he knows that intelligent people and 'furrin' givernments are against them
