Well I think its obvious the teachers mom is from china and his dad is from Mexico and he was trying to create his own little kid army to take over the USA. Geez.. its soooo obvious :o

Yeah, better to put out that fire before it spreads.

Close call! Good thing Dever's on top of it!

Come to think of it, Denver's very busy these days telling people what they can and can't do. I hope the teacher wasn't wearing baggy pants, they might lock him up and throw away the key!

ETA: Nope, that was Dallas with the baggy pants. I'm getting confused with all of the banning. Hard to keep it all straight...

I'd just like to know when the law is from. It's probably some older patriotic law. It seems obvious from the story that they dug it up to validate their xenophobia/hatred of Mexicans in the previous "flag scandal" and that this vice principal was concerned about his school getting in trouble.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to the annotated statutes to get the whole story, but it looks like this law was enacted in 1963, if I'm reading the notes on the bottom correctly.

Also of interest, this is located in the section on disloyalty/treason/sedition/anarchy.

Hmmmm well then that UN flag was ok! :)

Scene: Geography class

First grade teacher to class:

"And now, children, you have to be aware of a very important fact. Contrary to what you might have heard in the "old" times, the Earth is flat. So you have to be very careful not to get to the rim of it, because then you will be drawn into a deep, swirling abyss where a turtle is laying in wait to eat you alive. Oh, and by the way, the turtle is of the Muslim faith."

Disclaimer: This is a deeply ironic parody, not intended to hurt any children, teachers, countries, schools or Muslims.

Also no animals were harmed in the making of this post.

Thanks for the link! Very interesting...look at the highlighted part, which apparantly was overlooked in this situation...

2. Any person who displays any flag other than the flag of the United States of America or the state of Colorado or any of its subdivisions, agencies, or institutions in any place where it is likely to be viewed by the public or a substantial portion thereof, knowing that under the circumstances then existing such display is likely to cause a breach of the peace, commits a class 1 petty offense.

Not sure but the news said that the problem was that they were permanantly fixed and that is not right.. so now they say he has to rotate them..

Well, we don't know that that was the specific law. That was one Rahma found but could have been updated. It also allows for UN flags to be flown, so...Who knows. (I guess that was back in the day when the UN wasn't an organization supposedly only supported by the left.)

...and we mustn't forget to tell the children that the reason the earth was flat was because it was intelligently designed to be God's galactic frisbee.

How were they permanently fixed...with superglue? The teacher says he rotates them and selects them randomly. He was lucky he didn't randomly select Iran, France, and Syria. Then Homeland Security would have classified him a terrorist.

here is a blurb from www.thedenverchannel.com

Hamlin was escorted out of class on the second day of school after he refused to take down the flags of China and Mexico. Principal John Schalk asked Hamlin to remove the flags because of his concern that the display violated a Colorado law (C.R.S. 18-11-205), the Jeffco School District said. Jeffco placed Hamlin on paid administrative leave for insubordination.

"Under state law, foreign flags can only be in the classroom because it's tied to the curriculum. And the principal looked at the curriculum, talked to the teacher, and found that there was really no curriculum coming up in the next few weeks that supported those flags being in the classroom," Jeffco Public Schools spokeswoman Lynn Setzer said Wednesday.

Nothing in the state law that mentions curriculum anywhere  I wish I still had free access to west law to look up the case history of this law. Perhaps there were some cases that interpreted the law school wise.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
