RFE for I-693 (medical)

We just received an RFE for the I-693 (medical). The RFE asks us to submit a "properly completed and signed Form I-693".

Now, I know for a fact that we did send one. I think I remember signing it (actually, I don't see why I wouldn't have signed it). But, it would seem logical that they send an RFE for something that is not signed.

I've been trying to get a hold of the civil surgeon that did my medical and hopefully, I can pick up another original, without having to pay again. Here's hoping!

Adjustment of Status

11/03/10 ------- AoS (I-130/I-485) Package mailed out (Priority Mail)

11/07/10 ------- AoS Package received and singed for

11/10/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (emails)

11/12/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (hard copies)

11/12/10 ------- Touches on I-130, I-485 and I-765

11/19/10 ------- Biometrics appointment letter received

12/06/10 ------- RFE for I-693 (I think the issue is that it was not signed. Called USCIS and will receive a letter in a few days explaining)

12/13/10 ------- Biometrics done

12/16/10 ------- EAD card in production (email)

12/20/10 ------- Received "Letter of Explanation" for RFE (Service Request to expedite my case. Called USCIS and was told to ignore that and just send in response to RFE.)

12/22/10 ------- Touch (Email for Post Decision Activity on EAD saying that a letter of approval has been mailed out)

12/24/10 ------- Received EAD in the mail

12/27/10 ------- Applied for SSN

12/31/10 ------- Received Interview letter

01/03/11 ------- Received SSN card in the mail

01/07/11 ------- Mailed out response to RFE (I-693)

01/15/11 ------- Email confirming USCIS received RFE response

01/31/11 ------- Approved!

Pre-Adjustment of Status:

2006 -------- Met Online

02/07 ------- Visited him in the U.S. for what was suppose to be a few weeks (Came in with birth certificate and health card. Health card expired a few months after)

08/07 ------- Decided to get married because we didn't want to be apart (in the U.S.)

10/10 ------- USCIS Medical Done

Eek!! I don't think you sign it though... just the doctor... Maybe s/he filled it out incorrectly. That sucks! I hope they have a copy/can issue you a new free one. Good luck!

I'm hoping that's all it is.

I'm on the phone with the misinformation line and I've been escalated. So, hopefully, they can tell me what the actual issue was. No joke tho, the people who work there must be bored as heck! All they do is read from a screen. He had to read about 2 minutes worth of text before telling me that he was escalating my call. Don't get me wrong, I know it's their job and I feel for them. It just must suck to just read like that. I'm sure some people must be pretty rude to them.

Anyway, at worse, I'll just have to redo the medical (about $100), since the civil surgeon most likely kept a copy of my T.B. test, blood work and vaccination.

Well, just got done talking with escalation person. I was told that they are going to send a letter, within 5 days, regarding what the issue is.

You know, now that I look at the copy of the form, it makes sense that I would not have signed it. I probably thought that I needed to sign it after the medical. What's weird is that I think one of the receptionists pointed at it and told me that I had not signed it... It's a mystery. I'll know in a few days!

No, I'm pretty sure you are supposed to sign it in front of the civil surgeon. Also, I'd hope that your civil surgeon kept a copy of everything, so you wouldn't have to pay again for an exam. My hubby's civil surgeon sent us a replica copy of everything for our records. Hope this won't delay you too much!

EDIT: I just checked the form and yes you are supposed to sign under part 1 certifying that the information is correct, but you aren't supposed to sign until the civil surgeon instructs you to. So maybe just forgot that part...

12/15/10 [day 23]- rec'd biometrics appt set for Dec. 28th at 10 am! :)

12/28/10 [day 36]- successful biometrics appt

01/27/11 [day 66]- rec'd interview appt set for March 10th at 10 am :)

02/25/11 [day 95]- rec'd EAD

03/10/11 [day 109]- Interview, Green card approved!! :)

Next Step: Removing conditions in 2 years.

Yup. I have a copy and I did not sign it. But, I'm thinking the receptionist might have made me sign it after she made the copy... At any rate, I just hope I won't have to pay for the medical again.

Perhaps the CS forgot to sign it. At any rate, hopefully the most you would have to pay for would be the paperwork, but in my opinion that would be silly since it's their fault essentially...especially if the CS forgot to sign it. Keep us updated!

I got a hold of the doctor's office and they informed me that they usually make 3 copies. I must have signed only one and mailed the one that was not signed. So, I can go pick up a fresh one, for free!

Now, just as a precaution, so I know. If there is something wrong with that second one, would USCIS send another RFE, or do you only get one chance?

I have a full set of cpoies of the I-693 I send in.

But yes you actually need to sign it in the doctors office/ AFTER the exam.

And then the signed original needs to be in the sealed envelope.

04/2006 - came to US as L1 employee

04/2010 - got married

11/2010 - submitted AOS package (I-130, I-485, I-765)

05/2011 - Welcome letter arrived in the mail

11/2017 - Filed for naturalization (Online Houston office)

11/2017 - Biometrics

06/2018 - Interview (passed)

06/2018 - Case approved notification

Oh good!! I *think* (and could be wrong) that you only get one chance per RFE to comply with it. They should check the whole form to see if any additional information is missing and include that all in one RFE. If you happen to send in another form without the signature, my guess would be you wouldn't have actually complied with the RFE and risk denial. But again, I could be wrong.

just make sure it s enclosed in an envelope and sealed ( like stamp of the doctor adress where you close the envelope
