Thanks, I would appreciate the interview questions. My Fiancee is taking over 500 photois with her, which I think is excessive. I told her to take about 50 pictures, but she wants to take all the pictures from my trip to China.SHe is also taking about 500 pages of Skype conversations and over 600 emails. I told her that was too much, she would bore the VO, but she doesn't want to listen to me. She is so afraid of not passing the interview, she is over doing it. I have worked for or with the Government for the last 36 years, I think I know what they want, and all they want is enough to prove you have a relationship.I was telling her a couple of emails from each week is enough, But we'll see. Thanks for your help and support, it has been greatly appreciated. Bill

Consulate review posted.

:dance::dance:

LGC,

Congratulations!!

Thank you for your prompt and detailed consulate review!!

I guess it was an easy interview for your SO, given that you knew each other since childhood and you were both from the same culture and have photos dating back to high school!!

Right of wrong, I have a theory regarding photos after reading VJ postings so far: VO's are human too, and they may be curious about other people's life, and photos tell stories. However, it may not matter how many photos we provide if our financial and other supporting evidence are weak. In your case, I am guessing the VO already decided to approve your SO even before interviewing her, and looking at your pictures are just for his own amusement :). My SO and I read where some VO's didn't even ask for photos. (My two cents...) :) That said, I will definitely be preparing photos, a lot fewer than 500 though :D

You mentioned no cell phones allowed in the consulate. Did your SO leave her phone in the hotel or is there a place to leave/check-in all electronic devices at the consulate? I'm asking because I'd like to know if leaving our cell phones at the hotel is the best thing to do.

Thank you once again!!

you can bring the cell phones with you, they have place for you to store the electronic devices while you do the interview. once you passed the interview you can get your phone back before go to fill out the form for them to send you the package. my fiancee told me, even at that point you are still not allow to use cellphone, but everyone do it anyway, she said only one lady work on that area, and she keep shout at people "no cell phone, no cell phone!" but no one seem listen to her.:rofl::rofl::bonk::bonk::bonk:

not sure the pre-approve thing, because the documents intake, all they took were the packet 4 forms and my tax returns. no photos, no phone record/chat log, not even EOR....(she also told me the woman who did the documents intake was not as friendly as the VO.)

that's why the night before when we prepare for the interview, we go through all the qeustions i found on VJ and we use every chance we got to hand in photos and records, the VO only look at the photos, none of the records. a picture worth a thousand words i guess.

LGC,

The part about the poor cell-phone-keeper-lady is funny :D

Well, I think your statement about document intake further supports my theory about "pre-approval" or a "90% chance of approval" was decided before the interview, because they took all your "primary evidence" at the document intake, and had time to review all those primary evidence including your I-134, tax returns, W2, etc the day before the interview.

The "secondary evidence" that your SO took the interview including chat logs, phone records, and even EOR, were not even asked for or looked at.

That said, I sent in an EOR and photos with my I-129F "front loading", and I'll be doing a new EOR for the interview. I want to be fully prepared even though I feel that a denial is already decided for a weak case even before the interview.

By the way, how long was your SO's interview? Does she remember the length of time she was questioned by the VO?

From your review, it seemed the VO was just going through the motion of verifying with your SO what's on the submitted forms (the primary evidence), and didn't ask any hard questions to trip her and lead her down the denial path.

I think since your case looks good and you provided all the primary evidence they asked for, the VO browsed through your photos to use up his allotted time :)

Once again, thank you for entertaining my speculation and questions!! :)

the interview was less than 10 mins. the lady right next to her had a female VO, that's not so easy, she was asked what are the name of the petition's friends? and when she hand in some wedding pics of her and her husband, the VO actually said, he dont looks like your husband. and it get better after that, the female VO ask her the same questions 3 times using a very unfriendly attitude. i mean when under pressure like that, she will make mistake about something she put down in the form(soemthing about petitioner's tax return), the female VO is keep press on that small mistake she made. my fiancee said, the 4 male VO go through 4-5 interviews and the female VO only go through maybe 2. the interview window is very close and the VO use mic, so she can almost hear everything that going on right next to her.

Congratulations LGC, soon reunited with your high school sweetheart :) Good luck to rest of you.

I also feel a case is mostly decided before the interview takes place. There have been cases with very good evidence and long history together that have been denied quickly without giving the girl a chance to say or show anything. Quite sad.

the interview was less than 10 mins. the lady right next to her had a female VO, that's not so easy, she was asked what are the name of the petition's friends? and when she hand in some wedding pics of her and her husband, the VO actually said, he dont looks like your husband. and it get better after that, the female VO ask her the same questions 3 times using a very unfriendly attitude. i mean when under pressure like that, she will make mistake about something she put down in the form(soemthing about petitioner's tax return), the female VO is keep press on that small mistake she made. my fiancee said, the 4 male VO go through 4-5 interviews and the female VO only go through maybe 2. the interview window is very close and the VO use mic, so she can almost hear everything that going on right next to her.

Thanks LGC,

Somehow I get the feeling that most if not all "approved cases" get short interviews, while "boarder-line cases" and "denied cases" get longer and unfriendly interviews. Non-approved cases may be assigned to a certain VO who specializes in delivering bad news in an unfriendly manner to make the beneficiaries feel or admit that something is wrong with their case.

To me, it is unfair to discuss US tax returns with someone from China, because I can point out a number of Americans who are afraid to file their own taxes. If everyone in the US are tax experts, then we don't need H&R Block or accountants. Also, saying that the man in the picture does not look like the lady's husband is so subjective. I am surprised the VO did not say that the bride in the picture does not resemble the beneficiary because most ladies wear heavy makeup in wedding photos. :D

Again, that's my speculation. :)
