LGC,

Thanks for the update. Can you please share some information after your SO's medical?

Specifically, (1) which facility, (2) did she get vaccination, (3) what was her experience at the facility.

Thank you!! :)

she went to shamian(Health Care Center of Guangdong International Travel)

the whole thing went smooth, not that many people were there.(maybe because just after the chinese new year)she arrived at the center about 7:30ish get everything done before 9:30.

you can do the exam on the morning or the afternoon, morning exam, dont eat anything before the exam, they dont want you to eat much if you pick the afternoon exam. if you do the morning exam, please have your love one bring some milk and bread with her, she can eat after the chest x ray. (i wont pick the afternoon one, because that mean you dont get to eat anything before you do the x ray.)

the medical is simple and painless, they take your blood first, then do the chest x ray. after than just normal physical exam: height, weight, eyes... all the simple stuff. but you will need 3 vaccins.

The medical exam cost 800RMB, and the vaccins about 450ish for 3 of them.

Total come to about 1250RMB and less than 2 hours. the best thing is, they take credit card. dont need to carry all that cash with you.

there is a shopping mall near by, about 20RMB taxi to get there, also the citic bank is there also so you can pay the interview fee, do some shopping and get something to eat before return to the health center for results. you can't pay more to have the result done faster. 2-3pm is the earilest you can pick up the results.(if you chioce the afternoon exam, result will be available for pick up the next day)

you will get 4 things back, 2 papers and 2 sealed envelopes. you need to bring all of those and the receipt of the interview fee to the consulate when you go there for documents intake and finger print.

i saw your other post, you were worry about the breast and genitalia exam. none of those. you dont have to worry.:thumbs::thumbs:

LGC,

My SO and I thank you for your detailed replied!!

With your detailed guide, we will go to Shamian with confidence!!

My SO read postings at the Chinese 001 site talking about male doctors telling female beneficiaries to strip naked for examination of private body parts, and the ladies were embarrassed. I wonder if that was at the United Family Clinic. My SO called the United Family Clinic and was told that whichever doctor is on duty that day does the examination, whereas Shamian told her that female beneficiaries are examined by female doctors.

Anyway, your posting was a great comfort!!

Wish your SO a smooth and successful interview next week :)

Keep us posted, and thank you very much!!

Darnell mentions the 001 website, have some info. maybe outdated and someone gives out wrong info. to newbies. i will watch out for that.

i only read VJ. so far, everything i learned from VJ been helpful, correct, and guide me through this K1 process without any issue. especially Darnell has some very good posts about how to speed up the P3 and other stuff, worked perfect. save me at least a week of time.

Thanks LGC,

I'm glad to know Darnell's P3 shortcut worked for you. I guess as long as Guangzhou keeps updated forms on their website then we'll do fine. I'll use the shortcut when the time comes.

Yes, I hang out on VJ all the time, although someone suggested "Candle for Love" for China specific information.

By the way, I read a lot about staying at the Yang's apartments and having the Yang's help with details. Did your SO do that? And are you going to be with her on interview day?

Thanks :)
