Hey Vjers

I was reading ahead for the interview process and ALOT of people doing the CR-1/IR-1 visa are taking their husbands/wives with them to the interview. It is required that we go or is it okay if only the beneficiary goes? I've heard a few people say the petitioner is not required to go but I just want to be sure :)

Pre-USCIS:

07-20-2008: Fell In Love

10/15/2008: Jami and I meet for the first time

1-17-2009: Became Engaged In Nova Scotia

04-01-2009: Visit to Nova Scotia to see Jami

06-29-2009: Jami comes to Arizona to visit

01-08-2010: Married in Fredericton, NB Canada

01-11-2010: Jami allowed back down with me after marriage for 6 months

USCIS JOURNEY:

05-20-2010: I-130 Packet mailed out! ( Finally! )

05-22-2010: Packet received at Lockbox

05-28-2010: NOA1 ($355.00)

07-07-2010: Jami went back to Fredericton, NB :(

10-29-2010: NOA2 ( FINALLY! )

NVC JOURNEY:

11-05-10: Case received at NVC

11-06-10: Called automated machine and got NVC case number

11-08-10: Called and changed Jami's address and added my email to case for corraspondance updates

11-16-10: DS-3032 email generated and emailed to us

11-16-10: AOS fee bill generated and emailed to us

11-18-10: Paid AOS Bill ($88.00)

11-23-10: Mailed completed DS-3032 through Canada Post

12-01-10: NVC Received DS-3032 and updated in System

12-06-10: Mailed AOS packet overnight express

12-16-10: Paid IV Bill ($404.00)

SURE WHY NOT..Just becasue the person being interviewed has to be there dont mean you cant go to for support

I never heard no US Embassy personal not allowing it. The Ukraine Embassy for the US the people who work there

are VERY NICE AND FRIENDLY. I plan on it and I heard its a show of being together. You wont with the Wife/Husband

during the interview but you can sit in the waiting room durning the intertview. Good Luck

I never heard no US Embassy personal not allowing it. The Ukraine Embassy for the US the people who work there

Thats great but is it required? I guess I'm mainly asking because I'm not really planning on going to the interview with my wife so am I REQUIRED to be there or not? Can she do the interview by herself?

I check with my consulate and told me I will not be allowed to be inside the consulate.

So, it is NOT required. However, if one can, it is good and will have some added advantage.

So, it is NOT required. However, if one can, it is good and will have some added advantage.

The Austrian embassy ONLY allows the person to be interviewed inside. Not even the US Citizen petitioner can come with.

Just as an example. :)

My husband (the USC) attended with me but it was mainly for emotional support. Similar to canadian_wife's experience we saw many people interviewing solo. The spouse is NOT required to attend and it does not seem to have any bearing on the interview outcome in Montreal.

In Usem in colombia they allow the us citizen inside,I was alone cus my husband was not allowed on his work to travel, and everything was ok, so you shouldnt worry, just be sure when you speak. Good luck!!!
