Hey everyone. Me and my brother both applied to bring our fiancees (both sisters) back in February and we went through the whole process and had the interviews during the end of August. My brother and I both went to the interviews with our fiancees in the Islamabad embassy. Now my fiancee and my brothers fiancee both passed their interviews, and my fiancee was told to come back tomorrow to pick up her visa since we had come from Afghanistan, but unfortunately my brothers fiancee visa was not given to her because her file still had to go through further administrative processing which they said would take 2 months at the most. I came back to the US with my fiancee in the beginning of October, but my brother is still stuck there with no word on why its taking so long, and its been more than 3 months so far. So I was just wondering why his fiancees visa is taking so long even though they are both sisters and we had filed for them at the same time?

Our guess was that maybe because his fiancee had went to India with her mother earlier this year for about a month, but I don't know why that would delay the process.

It could be that your future sister in law's name turned up on a watch list, or is similar to one on a watch list. There's no way of knowing. Afghanistan is a very high risk country, and AP is very common there.. I hope she can come home soon ;)

No one is going to be able to tell you exactly why their case is taking so long. Unfortunately, that's just the way it is.

thanks, but I dont get how my fiancees process got done so easily

That's because there is neither accountability nor transparency in the system, and petitioners are guilty until proven innocent. It's not America's best side -- a number of people are working through the prolitical process to make legal immigration follow the standards that we take for granted in the rest of American government. Sorry to your brother for the delay! Unfortunately, like you have heard it just happens that way. Have you tried calling the embassy for any update?

I'm circulating a petition to ask the government to conduct AP within 3 months. I suggest that you sign it, and also join www.americanfamiliesunited.org, which is working to institute some accountability to this process. Currently, the government can take as long as it wants to do AP. A frightening thought! We've also been in AP for 3 months and counting.
