At what age did you come to realize that God/Devil/Heaven/Hell/Angels/Demons are all man-made fairy tales?

There is really not much difference between atheists and agnostics. Because no matter what nobody is 100% certain, myself included. I guess you could say I am agnostic because I believe it is possible for there to be a God. I am over 95% sure that there isn't according to my analysis but I still believe there is a small possibility. I would have to see or hear from God in person in order to believe it, and I don't think that will EVER happen! And a lot of agnostics are atheists except they say "I don't think there is a God but I'm not 100% sure". So there is a very thin line between the two groups.

Hopefully then, you'll concede that your certainty (to whatever degree) that there is no God is no more provable than the certainty among believers in the existence of a God.

When and where did I say that believing in the existence of a God requires any set of beliefs? What I said is that the mere belief in a God doesn't make a religion. That stands. By the same token, the mere rejection of the idea that there is a God doesn't make a religion either.

I can agree with that. Where we seem to disagree is whether or not an atheist can be religious about their convictions - IMO, they can.

Shut the hell up, heathen.

Science has a set of beliefs. Does that make science a religion? Political philosophies embody a set of beliefs. Does that make any political party a religion? Personally, I find them all indistinguishable.

I have always been skeptical in anything I read and thought most stories were just words written by man. I also knew at an early age that most stories had a kernel of truth.

I have since found out in life that there is a God and angels and demons for real. The stories that have been written by man may be fiction but that does not mean that there are no deities. I choose to commune with God and reject the demons and be comforted by my choice. Life has shown me that I am favored by God in giving me a good life. God shows me favor because I have given God a place in my life to guide me. Nothing is better in life then when I can be very content and gaze on a beautiful sight and feel awe. At this time I give my thanks for allowing me to feel this way to my God. It is very humbling to know that I am favored. Also since I am favored and am awed so often it makes me enjoy my life and become very happy.

I disagree. You and Steven hate his beliefs too and are trying to bully him into quiet submission. Fortunately for humanity, he is a bigger man than either of you realize and won't go down without a fight.

Science does not have a set of beliefs. I can only assume that you are confusing scientific theories with beliefs which is quite absurd.

With opinions like this being prevalent among average Americans it is not surprising that most global companies seek to recruit the brightest minds outside of the US. I expect you would be quite surprised at where the most sought after graduates hail from.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Whether you are being sarcastic or not, for the sake of those reading who would have no idea...

I believe his rudeness is unnecessary. Did I single out Jenn who also replied directly to me about how she came to what she believes/doesn't believe? No. I didn't criticize everyone who doesn't believe like I do.

Yeah right. Your post is full of excuses.

Actually I am friends with Steven and he does post some political stuff on FB like on VJ. I imagine he'd be very similar in real life as he seems on VJ. Sure he is an obvious Democrat and is passionate about his views. But he is a nice guy too. I am not a Democrat and I don't feel like he is mean to me just because of his posts.

Controversial internet posts such as discussions on politics/religion are not discussed as frequently in the real world. That is a fact. If you think I am a fake person because I don't advertise my religious beliefs in the real world then so be it.

PS...FB is the internet so you saying Steven posting a lot of political articles on FB doesn't mean he is out in the streets passing out articles. So he too is fake like me

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

No, I think you are a fake person for finding a thrill in making fun of religious people when you don't dare do it offline. Cowardly.

Two points.

Who cares what you believe? You also believe in God so if you believe in one fairy tale, you may as well believe in another.

Secondly - assuming your beliefs do have credibility (quite the stretch, I know), being rude to you God-types is actually quite necessary. The religious are rude to us day in and day out. They deserve a dose of the same medicine.

You are letting the Bible-thumpers take you off on a tangent. Get back on point and continue revealing the foolishness that is God.

Am I rude to you?

Extremely. Every time we talk about this, I cry in the shower.

Sure they can. But that doesn't mean that atheists are necessisarily religious. I'd venture to say that most of them aren't.
