Has anyone else had this problem?! I can't watch a movie anymore with any kind of potential immigration issue in it without getting annoyed.

The Proposal- What a joke

Closer- How did Natalie Portman get to stay in England and work? They weren't married...she wasn't in school.

Some other older movie I watched the other day where an American just ended up being a Nanny in England.

Every time I watch something now with these issues in it, I just sit at the screen, staring, and thinking "What a bunch of bull$&*T. That could NEVER happen THAT way"

/sigh

yes I run for google to find out how some drug upped communist just walks into the US so long as they are rich and famous.

Ozzy Osbourne, John Lennon, Keith Richards - they all just swan in and out like it doesn't apply and write magazine articles saying how drunk and drugged they are all the time

Then I go for my naturalization interview and I get water boarded about whether I am a male prostitute and/or a drunk

and preparing to overthrow the US Government and Military on my own after I get my new reading glasses from Shopko.

In less than 2 weeks I will have the absolute right to live or work or travel anywhere from Hawaii to Greece and Alaska to Tenerife. Only ueber-mensch like that can move around the world like they own the joint. Can't wait !

yes it was either that or the airport technique

I said " Dont twiddle my junk bro" and they went for the sponge and bucket. Good job I had time to tip gin into it before they got to work.

I'm always fascinated by House Hunters International where some of the shows have people who decide they're going to leave the US to live in a foreign country. I want to know if they're doing it legally or if they think they can just up and move there.

It was that program that brought us here. We were watching the Florida homes stuff in 2006 when we were living in Lancashire in the wettest year since the ice age. It was cold and dark and the rain had been coming sideways for 9 months in a hurricane like wind.

I said " Lets go live in Florida" and she said "OK"

Then it took a year of nightmare to get me a GC. MUCH worse than anything since. Nobody is more ant-illegal than someone who has gone through the USCIS mill - and I did it TWICE

Even people with drug convictions are allowed in for medical attention on a one-off visa then they stay ! I read it on line so it must be true.

Nice to see David Soul became a UK Citizen - I bet that is fun but the ceremonies in the UK are absolutely embarrassing and overly gooey and far more American than the American's ceremonies ! Nobody in the US can sing the American National Anthem without a throat transplant from a howler monkey so they don't attempt it - but the Brits have the supplicants singing about the Queen - shudder ! At least the US stuff is about the people and not about the boss lady.

Hope Madonna did it legally

Even though I knew the Proposal made a warped version of a fiance visa or whatever it was they called it, I liked it. The immigration guy was funny. Maybe because our visa process was already 6 years ago, it doesn't bother me as much. The end during the credits, during their separate questioning, the best. (If you didn't watch the credits, you are missing out!!)

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Oh I watched the credits, and don't get me wrong! I loved the movie, but after going through this process I just find myself telling the screen it's full of ####### on a regular basis!!! ;)

So from now on whenever someone has a problem with their process...I am going to answer:

I blame Charles.

I have to abjure all foreign princes

Not sure I know who they all are but I know at least one is called Charles so I think abjuring all Charles' would be prudent

The princes have always abjured me so its time for some retaliation
