yes, a 221g is indeed and still issued because though on your part it's just supporting documents being asked, on the COs part, it's what's needed exactly to confirm your claims in your application. =)

People often refer to a "221(g)" as if it were a physical thing, like a particular form issued by the consulate. In reality, "221(g)" is a section of the Immigration and Nationality Act that describes conditions under which a consular officer should deny a visa. Consular officers frequently cite section 221(g) in a denial notice when it appears that the applicant has not met the requirements to obtain a visa.

A notice citing 221(g) could be tentative, in which case the consular officer is asking the applicant to produce more evidence or documents to establish their eligibility. A notice citing 221(g) could also be a final notice of denial, stating that the applicant did not establish their eligibility to the satisfaction of the consular officer, and the petition is being returned to USCIS. Usually, when people refer to a 221(g) notice on this site they are referring to the first type, where the consular officer is asking for something.

They can issue a 221(g) notice for virtually anything; a missing form, a government issued document, even a photograph - anything they believe they need in order to establish the eligibility of the applicant.

question, my fiancee had her interview in Islamabad on the 18th of Oct. and was given a green piece of paper stating refused for administrative processiing. I called Dos and they told me the interview went well, and I do not need to submit any documents, and that it is also a good sign they kept her passport. Would Dos be the one to let us know if there are any documents left to be submitted? I just dont want to have to wait throught the AP and then find out in two months that there is a document they need. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

I don't know the answer to your question. However, I think you will get a better response if you start a new thread here in this forum. Or, you could start a new thread in the Asia-South forum. Good luck.
