Do you guys know anything about this government shutdown? I'm seeing that they are talking about doing this government shutdown if they don't come to an agreement about budget by april 8th. That would mean , no visas until they get back up and started again. I'm a little worried about it - anyone else know more than i do?

U.S. Department of State: No Visa Applications

While the diplomatic and security aspects of the Department of State (DOS) operations would continue, visa applications would likely not be processed in the event of a shutdown. It is anticipated that the consulates will not be open for visa appointments and processing. Thus, depending upon the duration of such an event, individuals could be stranded abroad with no way of obtaining required travel documents. The same is true for the processing of U.S. passports.

Guys I need your help especially to those who are done with their interviews. I already sent all the documents that my fiancee will need for her interview but I do have one question. Should the copy of my federal income tax come from the IRS or the copy from my accountant that prepared my tax returns sufficient? Please help, her interview is next week...

Since I prepared my own taxes, I included a copy of those. It's the same thing that I had sent to the IRS. I'm not sure who strict the Philippines are, but I know the Australia Sydney Consulate is one of the 'easy' ones.

Oh, and congrats Dogspot! Keep us posted on the interview! :)

Like Kiwibird said I do not know how specific the Philippines is. You could always call a request your last 3 years tax transcripts at 1-800-908-9946. I think if you call during normal business hours you can have them faxed to you. After you get them you can scan them into a document and then email that there and have her print them and take to the interview.

When I requested mine I always called at night got the automated voice system and ordered them by mail. For me it took about 7 or 8 days for me to get in the mail. Good luck with the upcoming interview.
