my wife an American woman live with me in Egypt from 6 months then we got an appointment to file the I-130

we need to know how long it gonna take coz i hear its take 6 months and someone else said its take 2 months

and my wife`s daughter has a problem in the states and my wife want back to the states after that appointment so i need to know coz if it will take 6 months from me to follow her that`s mean i`ll get a half year away without her and it was hard on us her and me

if anyone know what we have to say to the consular to let me go with her or follow her after a month not that long time

with respect

have a great day everyone

Did your wife file DCF in U.S Consulate, Egypt and went to the U.S after it?

If yes, in couple of months, your I-130 in the Consulate will be approved and can get the interview.

Yeah we need a little more info.

Did she do "direct consular filing"?

If yes, then the process may not be as long.

Actually, Administrative Processing (AP) may well make it long given from which country the OP is.

File DCF in Egypt, much faster than filing in the U.S. You are qualified based on her (petitioner) stay of 6 months in Egypt.

I totally forgot to think about that. You're probably right.

Unfortunately, nobody will care about how long you will have to be apart from your wife. Sorry, but that's how it is.

Hello teresashaban~

Here is the website that should answer some of your questions about filing DCF at the embassy in Cairo

http://cairo.usembas...sular/iv003.htm

Ok, from what I understand, you are going to file the I-130 on 14/09/2010, so have you called and made the appointment for that day?

Petitioners should contact our call center at 0900-70600 to set up an appointment. Prior to the appointment, the petitioner must prepare the petition packet and assemble originals of all required documents. The petitioner should follow the directions on the I-130 form carefully to avoid delays. The petition will not be approved without the personal appearance of the petitioner, and the payment of the proper fees. Each I-130 petition should also be cleared by the National Visa Center.

After the I-130 petition is filed and cleared from the U.S., a packet of forms and instructions necessary for the visa interview will be mailed to the beneficiary. This is in addition to his/her assigned case number. The visa interview can be scheduled as soon the packet is returned completed to the Consular Section. It is important to note that the beneficiary should complete the application for the visa interview only if he or she wants to travel to the United States in the next six months.

I'm sorry but it kind of sounds like the possibility is there that you may not beable to travel to the US for up to 6 months.

I know that there are a few people here who have filed DCF at Cairo, they may beable to answer your questions better.

I hope all goes well for your visa journey!
