Hi,

Its the middle of the night here (NY) so forgive me for reverting to English, but I have an important question to ask of those who have been the German fiance/e. Chris is getting his documents together and he said there is more than one type of police certificate available, equivalent to short and long form, and is a bit confused about which one he will need. Can anyone give me the exact title of the police certificate document which Frankfurt requires, please?

Thanks!

Since the question was in English, I am replying in English as well. Sorry :(

I am doing the CR1 route but I do not think that makes a difference when it comes to the police certificate!

I´ve got the "einfaches Führungszeugnis" which is btw. the only one they will send to you directly. All other ones will be send to the official offices on request or employer directly. NVC accepted it so obviously it was the right one.

Hope that helps. :)

I'm a K1 fiancee .My english is not good enough for this text so I want write in german and you can show it your fiance to read it.

I did, but I waited 2 days with no response, so I asked here where people seemed to be more active, and I was right lol. By the time I got the response in the other thread he was already home and the office closed, its a small country office only open until noon a few days a week.

Thanks for the responses everyone! And I do speak German, just not bureaucratic German in the middle of the night ;)

The offices take 3 days to get it for you, shouldn't be an issue. Your profile still says NOA1. If that's correct, you should wait until you actually compile package 3. That way the certificate is not that old when it comes to the actual interview. ;)

Thanks for the advice, but we should be hearing soon, and Chris is in Germany now. He has been spending the time he could here in the US with me as a visitor. I actually lived in Germany for many years, and then we both did grad school in the UK together, so it seems weird to be apart when weve been living together for 6 years.

In the October 2014 forum several people the week before us have received their NOA2s this week, so we are trying to get the needed paperwork together now. Its more than 3 days from his office, its a rural office in Oberasbach, so they told him it takes about 2-3 weeks, if not longer, when he was there before (also when they asked him which of the types he needed). This would all be easier if he lived in the jurisdiction of a city lol. Birth certificates are also going to take 3-4 weeks... In Nürnberg, which is like 10km away, this stuff only takes a week max....

Seems to be a bit slow in Bavaria then. My parents live in a small village, very rural, and the office took 3 days for the police certificate. My hometown, Stralsund, which is not that large, only took 1 day to send out my birth certificate. That's very unfortunate to hear that it takes that long, I guess you being proactive seems to be the only way there.
