Being the Petitioner, Am I correct to assume by police clearances, you are referring to the beneficiary?

yup. but the petitioner does have to send the affidavit of support and an updated letter of intent. I asked my fiance to send a copy of our lease that had my name on it but they didnt' end up asking for it at the interview. I figured it was evidence of relationship and domicile. I'm probably missing stuff here but the lists they have under the K1 guides are very detailed.

Most people have to have police checks done before the interview that along with medical results are brought to the interview......

most times you get it in snail mail.........you pay for the visa before the interview... it is when you send in your packet that they request for you to send once your approved petition is at the embassy.

Please double check your embassy to see when you pay for the visa each embassy is different because at my embassy you dont send any pkts back to them and you pay for the visa once it is issued so just double check because it varies from embassy to embassy good luck.....

to my knowledge every embassy makes you pay before the interview you do not receive a refund if you do not receive the visa but you must pay the fee before the interview

A police clearance is basically a background check for the beneficiary from the country they currently live in, or have lived in previously for a period of a year or longer. I believe I'm right on that time frame. If anybody knows if its shorter or different for particular countries feel free to chime in.

For example, I am from Canada and lived most of my life there but spent 1.5 years in Japan. The police certificates I needed were from Canada and Japan. I was able to go to my local police station for the canadian one. The one from Japan required me to go to the Japanese Consulate nearest to me to request one.

Every country is different and obtaining the police certificate will be different for everyone. If you aren't sure then you can take a look at the Visa reciprocity table on the DoS web page found here

it should give you more info on how to get a police certificate or any other documents you may need.

The DS-160 form has a function that allows you to save it and then upload it again when you go back to it. I have been doing just that. I would caution that it does not allow you to save it if there is information missing on a page and then it will also not allow you to go back if there is missing information. What I do is save at the end of each page and if something is missing on the next page, I can quit the application and come back later with the missing information after having uploaded my saved data.

05-25-11:email notification received stating interview on 6/24

05-27-11:hardcopy for interview received

06-24-11:done with interview.no approval yet

06-25-11: received EAD card

06-29-11:email received AOS approved and green card is on its way! yay! :)

I am happy for you both.. I'm also happy to see that some NOA2's are being sent out.. I am still waiting, my hard copy (via snail mail) is dated 6/2/10, so I believe I received it a few days later.. I know so many are waiting for their NOA2's.. I wonder if my Senator contacting them 2 times was a bad thing?.. Anyway, enough of my issues - CONGRATS!!!!
