interview result=administrative processing

my husband had an interview in islamabad, pakistan on august 19th and he's been told that there needs to be a check on his background. they took his passport and told him it can take from 2 months to infinity.

can anyone share there experiences in AP and approximately how long can it take???

Hop down to the waivers forum, AP thread and you will have lots of company. Best place around for support and to vent about AP. It took 14 months of AP for my now hubby to obtain his visa but that was several years ago.

Again suggest you join that thread for all the help and support you need.

lolz even 1 month is alot but 2 yrs is hahhahaha. i know it's not going to take more than a year.

does it make sense to call the DOS dpt of state where AP is done??

IMO, It can take from few months to a year or two. Not joking.

Hi there,

My wife had her interview in Islamabad on July 8th. She was put on AP and they told her same thing from 2 months to unknown. However, according to Pakistani /Afghani VJ members’ timelines, AP would take anywhere form less than 3 months to max 5 months so far. You can either call Islamabad embassy or DOS(202-663-1225)to check the status of AP.

ins't it the same thing? i dont think they would say Administrative processing but say it in simple words that they're going to do some bacground checking

As kfameri suggested, keep in touch with them about the status of AP.

Consulate may be verifying your relationship and beneficiary's police clearance, IMO.

ok here's what it says on the slip they gave him after the interview.

"Dear Visa applicant : your case has been temporarily refused for further administrative processing

Please check with Islamabad U.S Embassy.

Is it a pink or blue slip? When they request any details from you, provide it promptly. Also, follow up with them.

My wife revieved the following letter from the Islamabad Embassy.

Dear visa applicant:

Your ease has been temporarily refused for further administrative processing. We cannot give you a definite date when the processing will be completed, but the average time is approximately 2 -3 months. There is no maximum time limit.

When your case is approved andifwe already have your passports, we will put the visas into them. Ifwe do not have yaur passports, we will call you to request your passports., so that we may put the visas into them. When you are requested to return your passports. please send them as soon as possible by any courier or by registered mail to the following address:

Once we receive your passports. we will return them with the visas pasted in them to the American Express Courier Services office nearest to your home address.
