On question #43a where it discusses "Would you like to receive a replacement card?" and supplies a "yes" or "no" response. If my wife is applying for a new social security number/card do I check off the "yes" box?

Thanks

That part of the question doesn't apply to you. You have never applied for a card. So you select NO. And since you have never gotten a SSN, you cannot have a replacement. You answer YES to getting a card.

NO, you have never applied for SSN. YES, you want SSN. Simple as that, man.

It is simple as that--but I just don't want to make any mistake :) In any case, I am going to select "no" for the replacement option since my wife had never applied for a green card before. Out of curiosity, have any leave it blank?

sorry to hi-jack...but i got a question on the form as well. im trying to fill out the forms for my wife so it'll be ready by the time they send her the actual forms. on question number 30 about places she lived in for 6+ months since 16, i don't know what to do. because when she was in college, she paid for a dorm to stay in that was just down the street from the university. but she told me that she wasted money on it because she'd go home everyday anyways instead of staying at the dormitory. if i remember correctly she was paying for the dormitory for about 6 months before getting smart and stop paying for it since she does not stay there.

do i still include that in that question?

she is waiting on NVC to actually SEND HER the DS-230 form? postal mail? why? you really wish to wait 3 months between I-864 acceptance and DS-230 'packet send out' ? No, you don't want that, right?

why not download it, instead, from the InterWebz? --> http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html FWIW, in a speedy/zip-through existence at NVC, YOU, the USC Spouse, should really be monitoring that online payment portal, and review some mini-how-to at http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/221785-ds-3032-slowdown/page__view__findpost__p__3560467

re: the question - usually the address is tied into some ID - so if her ID during that time was 'set' for her home address, then it doesn't matter where she was living during her college days. IF her ID was 'set' for the other address, then must to use that address. Think of it as a college student in USA, with the 'registered address' listed in IRS form 1040 and any state drivers license - still being at the parents house, but actually living IN the dorm at the university.

hi Darnell,

thanks for the response. we/she's not actually waiting for the ds-230 kit to arrive in the mail. well...we are waiting in a sense that that's the next step of our journey. but as of now, NVC has "Not Invoiced" me yet for the IV Application Processing Fees per their online payment portal. i was just trying to complete the form for her and the kids by typing in the information so she wouldn't have to handwrite everything in. i was going to send the completed packet to them to the Philippines so that all they'll have to do is to sign it and send it when the time comes.

we do have to wait for the IV bill to show as paid before sending the ds-230 to NVC correct?

I am trying to fill out this form early to give to my future wife when I am their with her. I having problems understanding line 29 are their asking if we children or are they asking the names of her brothers and sisters name. Another part is line 14 which I think would put my name as being the spouse but then in line 31a and 31b if I am to accompany her to the US. So a little help please thanks.
