Out Side:

Arrived at the embassy @ 7 A.M Local time but were denied admission. Came back @ 8 A.M & got a place at very beginning of the line ( on street full of dust, smell all over. Do bring a mask if you want to survive in Dhaka). U.S Citizen's ONLY are offered a locker to put your belongings once you pass through the initial line. Then check point 1 , where they will search your belongings & of course your self :) (Never bring any sealed envelop, if you happen to bring any envelop make sure it is opened.)

Inside:

8:15 A.M they started calling IV applicants by name to submit interview letter.

8:20 A.M they called wife to take finger print (both hands)

Interview : 8:25 A.M

1 Caucasian gentleman & 1 Bangladeshi Lady. I told right away I do not wish any Bengali speaking assistance

Officer : Who are you

Me : Husband & petitioner

Officer: Why you are here?

Me: To bring my wife back home with me

Officer : You could have stayed home but I am glad to see you here in person

Me: Anything for my wife sir

Officer : When did you get marry ?

Me : **-**-2009 ( Interview date was our 11 month wedding anniversary :)

Officer : To my wife raise your hand & repeat with me ( in Bangla !!!)

Wife : Followed the officer's commands

Officer ; Please sign DS - 230 Part 2 & give me your passport

Wife : did so

Officer: Show me some of your wedding pics

Officer: You make a lot of money but why you had a very ordinary wedding ? And why you wearing a suit on wedding ? ( I guess it's unusual to wear a suit in a Bangladeshi wedding)

Me : I was here for ONLY 10 days when we got married & had no time to throw a wedding bash. I wore a suit caz I believe wearing the Bangladeshi traditional costume will make me look like a clown |o|)

Officer : Seems like you forgot all about your culture !!

Me: I keep my culture in my heart, Wearing a Bangladeshi costume do not go with my image :)

Officer : What you do ?

Me : I am a Software Developer

Officer : I am done with you, please step out I want to speak with your wife alone.

Before I left the scene I planted a little smooch on my wife's lips (L)in front of the officer ( my wife was shocked also :) . I know doing this made us a real couple. No Bangladeshi girl will allow someone to kiss her except her husband. I am sure the officer is also aware of it :lol:

What the officer asked my wife :

officer : How we met ?

Wife : Told the officer

Officer : How do we communicate ? Do I send her money ?

Wife : Showed Western Union Receipts

Officer: Come tomorrow @ 2:30 to pick up your VISA & passport. Gave wife a white token

Me Inside again !!!

Me: Thank you so much sir

Officer: Have a safe trip back home & take care

All Over

Thanks

Dude. Reading about your kissing your wife in public (okay, quasi-public) place made me blush. But everything else looks pretty straightforward. I bookmarked this for reference down the road. :) Congrats.

A good, useful post for others who will interview in Dhaka. Congratulations, si man! :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I am going for my husbands interview in Dhaka too so I loved your story..

QUESTION: Since you were there for the interview, how long was it before your wife was able to travel HOME with you after embassy approval..

Dawn Christine Khan Petitioner and bou for my Bangla Beneficiary Shaami who I can NOT WAIT to have home with me.
