Hi everyone!! My fiance wanted to book a flight on the 25th of August since it's my birthday and our monthsary on the 26th, but upon reading the news, it seems that the checkpoint/ security measures are tight. No liquids, etc. Is it still safe to fly to the states this month? Would it also be very hassle at the port of entry? My birthday only comes once a year, i was hoping that this year finally i could spend it with him. Please give us some advice and what it's like there right now especially at the SFO. thanking you all in advance.

I would say fly, no month is any different than the other months. Just make sure you dont bring what you are not suppose to bring.

Although it was a domestic flight, my son flew yesterday from Arizona to Cali. No problems at all because he checked in all his luggage. The security measures are focused on carry-on items, so just be mindful of whatever you want to carry with you to your seat. One of my co-workers who is Canadian - his parents recently were visiting and his mother had to give up a $60 bottle of perfume that she tried to carry-on. The check-in windows should be helpful to allow you to transfer anything you overlooked into your check-in luggage. Good luck and have a safe flight!

It is safe to fly right now .. probably safer then ever.. I would just not fly on Aug 22.. any other day then that

I came to the USA on the 11 August 2006 apart from the long delays at all airports coming through immigration was not too bad. Just be prepared for the delays

My fiance just flew in the mist of the mess going on last Wednesday and Thursday. He did have to give up everything in his bags, both his carry on and checked luggage. I have only heard about the them checking the carryon bags and not the checked bags. His bag was lost in Chicago though so maybe that's why all of his things were taken out of his suitcase.

I was actually in Ireland and flew back to the states on the 10th, the day the craziness started. Luckily I had left Scotland the day before and didn't have UK restrictions while flying, but my friends who I spent part of the vacation with were not so lucky. They were taking an early flight that am from Edinburgh to Dublin, then meeting me to fly back home. They went through the whole plastic bag only carry-on, it wasn't a whole lot of fun, but they had the stuff they really needed and survived. We all made our flights fine. It was a longer day then usual, more intensity at the airports all around, but it was fine. Just tell him to get there super early, and pack smartly.

My son and I came here in U.S last july 17 thru SFO. We passed POE in 10 mins. and the guy there asked me if idid bring foods, I said no. Sinced I heard that they're very strict in bringing foods, so I avoid to do it.
