Does it really not occur that it's rather low class to play this sort of game. You are using your own wife as if she is some sort of commodity or a piece of meat to be adjudicated on by strangers on the internet.

My wife is a model. She gets paid for being judged to be attractive enough to sell people's products. She appears in magazine ads, commercials, live modeling (she got $500 and a designer ski outfit to serve Russian Vodka in a walk-in Freezer in Boston for 3 hours at a convention of Restaraunt and Bar owners) billboards, newspapers, etc.

She IS a commodity, she HAS a price for her work. There is even a union for models. She has a special visa to work in Canada reserved for models and entertainers. She is adjudicated by strangers and found good enough to be paid to make their clothes look good. And what? I should be ASHAMED of this? So sorry to disappoint.

If I didn't post her photos she would wonder why the HELL I was ashamed of HER.

I think its more along the lines of you post about her as a model every chance you get. Your obviously quite proud of her (which is fine) but I think it rubs people the wrong way sometimes especially since its used to make you look good.

Gary, surely there is more to your relationship with your wife than the fact that she is a model and you can drop it into conversations.

I don't think you should be ashamed of her. I think you should be ashamed of YOURSELF for presenting her here as if she is a piece of meat or some sort of pedigree animal to be judged.

Again Slim, you have no comprehension of context, or even basic reading. Go back and read what I actually wrote, and compare that to this deluded perception you have of what you think I did.......

Assuming that both of you find your wives equally attractive in your own heads... only one of you has actually compared his wife to the other. The one who's done so related that his is "a lot more so" than the other. That means, "my wife is more attractive than yours."

You can't sugarcoat it or change the context to change the meaning. You blatantly compared your wife to his and said yours is more attractive.

If he said "my wife is more attractive" that would imply that not only he thinks his wife is more attractive, but some sort of consensus of opinion supports that statement.

Are you attempting to add implications to suit your needs?

Without any implications, he said his wife is more attractive based on comparative analysis.

Indeed. It's not that anyone really cares that Alla is a model. It's that it seems to be very important to Gary that people know it and care about it.

I don't think it really mattera whether someone's wife has supermodel looks or is dog-ugly - because at the end of the day, that's not what it's about. You marry a person, not a pair of tits.

No Slim - he said he personally finds his own wife more attractive that Gary's. The "I" is the subjective part. If you take that out THEN you have an objective statement - i.e. "my wife is more attractive".

Regardless - there's no reason Gary should care about it at all. It shouldn't matter to him at all that someone should find another woman more attractive than his wife. The fact that he does suggests some insecurity on his part - as several others have already mentioned.

You lay out a challenge and I answer each one. Then you try and back-peddle. First you say "Why would someone list their wifes measurments?" My wife's measurements are a matter of public record and marketed to potential clients. I am not ashamed of them and I am not degrading her to state them. She WANTS it that way. She has them printed on comp cards she sends to agencies. It is her business! (at least part time when she is not in school or interpreting for immigrants at USCIS) I give you a legitimate answer why I would do so and now you try to make it look like I did something bad or unsophisticated. YOU bring it up and then wonder why I dropit into conversations? Are you daft? You ask the husband of a model why he would advertise his wife's measurements and shoe size and dress size, and when he answers YOU are surprised? Never ask a question if you do not already know the answer.

She is not a pedigree animal. She is a model. It is a legitmate, honorable job and really not nearly as easy as you may think, but it does pay well for short time worked and works quite well for a student. What other job will a college student get that pays $125 per hour? By the way, that is a published rate, so no secrets there either.
