My fiance finally got here a few weeks ago. We took a trip back to my hometown and have now returned home to Los Angeles. I think we will get married next week. Aside from getting our marriage license, we haven't filed any paperwork yet. I'm just getting all the forms together now. Unfortunately I have a job out of town starting next week and I'm a little worried about getting everything done in time before I leave.

As I see it, I need:

I-765

I-693 Which as I understand it, since she's already gone through the Biometrics to get the K1, this is just a quick visit, assuming she has the proper vaccinations, which I'm assuming she has since she passed the original physical?

Apply for Social Security Card

And of course the I485

I'm looking through the forms and I don't see anywhere where we provide a copy of the marriage license. Do we not need to include that anywhere? Or am I missing something?

It's a little confusing because I've spent most of my time in the K1 forum, but now I'm here, but not all the AOS information here pertains to the particular situation of a K1 marriage and AOS.

Ok, just found this. http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

Is that what I'm putting together here?

You will need new EVERYTHING (well tax documents SHOULD be okay as long as you have the 2009 one now). The reason for that is her information (and yours) has changed since she entered.. i.e. you'll both be "married" and in all liklihood she's changed her address AND her last name.

Read the AOS thread in my signature. It has the full document list including evidence required and I personally prefer it to the guide previously posted. Hope it helps you :D

There's also this flowchart: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow (you'll be at part 14 or so) and also this guide for the SSN: http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn

Good luck.

Yes you do have to include another affidavit of support. Its a different form, and in this case legally binding.

Copy of I-797 - Notice of Action, Approval of K1 petition, dated ##### (front & back)

I haven't seen that listed anywhere else. Is that necessary? I'm not sure where that is and isn't it obvious that the K1 was approved based on the I94?

Also, is there really any benefit to applying for a SS# before she gets work authorization? The SS# doesn't affect what we're doing for the AOS packet, right?

Nevermind I see it now. So this is the letter that my Fiance received in Sweden when our packet was approved?

Can't figure out how to delete posts. Ok, I think I found the NOA2. It's the second of the I-797C notices that I received, before the packet was sent to my Fiance in Sweden. It says "Approval Notice" under "Notice Type:"

I still wonder whether or not we need to worry about the SS# right now. I can't see where it affects anything in the I 485 package.

No the SS# won't affect the AOS. Eventually it will be needed for work. Also some banks will ask for it to open an account or if you want to add her to yours..

But you can file AOS without her having an SS#.

Agreed. She doesn't necessarily NEED one now but you'll find it's a lot easier to add her to bank accounts and health insurance etc by having one. Get it in her maiden name now and don't worry about it again until you get the GC or EAD. The number will remain the same but you should go back when she get sthe GC to change to her married name and get the "DHS authorisation" part removed (you'll see what I mean when you get it)

As for the NOA2, yes, that's the one they want. The approval notice.
