I just received this email in my designated spam email

is this normal to be spam like this from visajourney

Sender:Maureen Aziku [maureen.aziku@yahoo.com]

Message:HELLO my name is

Maureen,i saw your profile today in (www.visajourney.com) when i was browsing today in internet

became interested in you,i will also like to know you the more,and i want you to send an email to my email address so i can give you my picture for you to know whom i am.Here is my email address I believe we can move from here I am waiting.

(Remember the distance or color does not matter but love matters a lot in life)

happens from time to time.. someone creates a profile and starts spamming members....

LOOOOL I got the exact same email word for word!

you did?, its a weird, its not selling anything or promote anything,usually there a link with hot naked women, which i don't mind. to the spammer, you're retarded, at least put something awesome that i'm interested in buying, like porn or cars, supplements, workouts,more porn.

Every now and then a spammer creates a Visa Journey membership and starts sending out PMs like this to our members. The best thing to do is to use the "Report" button on the PM and that will send it to the Moderation Team. If they have posted in the forums the moderators can then ban the account. If they have only sent PMs then Captain Ewok bans the account and the IP address. We seem to be having a rash of these happening lately so please, let the Moderators know so we can stop these guys. Spamming like this is definitely not allowed.

They probably did a scan of posts looking for email addresses and then spammed those email addresses posted here... both of you guys have posted your email in previous posts...

Yes, that does seem to be what has happened as there is no related membership. I was wondering how they could get email addresses since they are not visible in the membership forums but if they are able to pull them out of forums where they are posted, that would explain it. I will still bring this to Captain Ewok's attention. It might be a good idea to recommend that people don't post email addresses or if they do, that they disguise part of it by using the words 'at' and 'dot' so there isn't a direct correlation and just looks like regular text.

Using the google search in the menu above and search query of "@yahoo.com" it appears a great many people could have been victims of this...

as if we dont already get enough emails telling us we inherited or won millions of dollars.... :blink:
