A good example of what's wrong with kids these days...

If this kid's parents could afford to put him through Colgate, what's the problem with searching for a few more months while bumming off mom and dad?

All too often I see these parents complaining about their bum kids when, in fact, they've enabled the behavior and set themselves up for it. I bet mommy made his bed for him too.

I bet if they kicked him out of the house he'd take that job.

I think the guy should have taken the job. Time for him to grow up. Even if the job is not in his field he can still learn valuable skills be it something as simple as developing social skills in a business environment. Besides, what if his dream job does come up? What is going to look better on a resume, nothing or at least some employment experience? As an employer the nothing to me raises questions of his motivation.

He lives with mom and dad. He needs to start making some money.

Yes...finding the locks changed on the house and his "things" sitting on the front lawn would definitely adjust Junior's attitude. It wouldn't take his high dollar college education to figure out his next move in the game of life. A real game changer.

Unfortunately mom and dad are too afraid that Junior will never speak to them again and will disown them. They are probably right. After all they did for him, that is the gratitude they would likely get.

So with this in mind...why are they afraid to show this ingrate the front door?

He likely didn't have a very trashy upbringing, so I doubt his parents (who did the upbringing) would resort to those kinds of street tactics. The way they do it in polite society is with a conversation and a deadline. Sometimes the parents even help them move out. My cube neighbor at work is even paying her daughters rent for the first month . Oh and getting her a beat up car.

Do they send the family maid over to her pre-paid apartment to clean it to make amends for being "trashy" by buying the beat up car?

The only positive for Gen X is that we're not parasitic leeches like the Boomers.

Boomers just couldn't do math.

This is what happens when spanking is replaced with time out.

It sure is tough being a kid nowadays.

The "time out parents" who spank sometimes do it to make themselves feel accountable, not to punish their children. "Oh, we spank our kids. Whenever Skyler gets out of hand, we give him a nice whallop on his backside so he knows we mean business."

It's like a faux-violent butt massage.
