I randomly came across this site last night and thought it might be fun to see where everyone is. We always label each other but where are we really?

Take the quiz and report the results.

http://politicalquiz.net/

Conservative/Progressive score: 6

You are a social moderate. You think the progressive movement is overall well meaning, but sometimes it goes too far. On issues like abortion and affirmative action, you see the negatives of both extremes on the issue. You probably value religion, but at the same time you think it should still stay separate from the government.

Capitalist Purist/Social Capitalist score: 8

You are a Moderate Capitalist. You support an economy that is by and large a free market, but has public programs to help people who can't help themselves or need a little help. Pretty much you believe in the American economy how it currently is.

Libertarian/Authoritarian score: 1

You are libertarian. You think that the government is making way too many unnecessary laws that are taking away our innate rights. You believe that the government's job is primarily to protect people from harming other people, but after that they should mind their own business, and if we give the government too much power in controlling our lives, it can lead to fascism.

Pacifist/Militarist score: 4

You're a Moderate. You think that in very rare occasions, the United States should invade a country in order to make the world better by spreading democracy or ending a tyrants rule. You also think that defense is very important, and we shouldn't lower the defense budget. You think that, while the Iraq War probably was a mistake, that we can make the world a better place by sticking with it and spreading democracy in the middle east.

Conservative/Progressive score: 12

You are a social progressive. You generally consider yourself a humanist first. You probably think that religion and patriotism go too far in society. You probably consider yourself to be a citizen of Earth first rather than a citizen of your country.

Capitalist Purist/Social Capitalist score: 8

You are a Moderate Capitalist. You support an economy that is by and large a free market, but has public programs to help people who can't help themselves or need a little help. Pretty much you believe in the American economy how it currently is.

Libertarian/Authoritarian score: 6

You're a Moderate. You think that we all have certain inalienable rights that must be protected, but that sometimes laws need to be made to protect the majority's lives or quality of lives. You might think that the 2nd amendment isn't necessary anymore because letting everyone a gun is extremely dangerous to the community. You might also be against illegal drug use or public pornography because of its possible harmful effects to society.

Pacifist/Militarist score: 5

You're a Moderate. You think that in very rare occasions, the United States should invade a country in order to make the world better by spreading democracy or ending a tyrants rule. You also think that defense is very important, and we shouldn't lower the defense budget. You think that, while the Iraq War probably was a mistake, that we can make the world a better place by sticking with it and spreading democracy in the middle east.

Overall, you would most likely fit into the category of Hardcore Democrat

Conservative/Progressive score: 2

You are a social conservative. You believe in traditional values, and care first and foremost about your country, your family, and your religion. You dislike the agenda of the left because you see them as trying to destroy these things.

Not really... I'm more progressive here. The way they asked these questions was a bit off...

Capitalist Purist/Social Capitalist score: 1

You're a Capitalist Purist. You believe that the market should be completely free, and that the invisible hand of the market will make sure that the people get what they want and will do it in the most efficient way possible. You believe in small government, less taxes, and more privatization.

True for the most part, though I support smart regulation.

Libertarian/Authoritarian score: 2

You are libertarian. You think that the government is making way too many unnecessary laws that are taking away our innate rights. You believe that the government's job is primarily to protect people from harming other people, but after that they should mind their own business, and if we give the government too much power in controlling our lives, it can lead to fascism.

Pretty much.....

Pacifist/Militarist score: 2

You're a Pacifist. You are angered that the United States thinks it should dominate the world through its military force. You think that the only time war is necessary is when we are in direct danger of being attacked. You also believe the US spends way too much of its money on defense, as we can practically cut it in half and still easily defend ourselves, and use that money to fix all our economic problems

Pacifist no. Less military action around the world, yes.

Capitalist Purist/Social Capitalist score: 11

You're a Social Capitalist, you think that, left to its own, Capitalism leaves a lot of people behind. You think that Health Care should be free to all, that the minimum wage should be raised, and that the government should provide jobs to all that are capable of having them. You likely hated the Bush tax cuts, and believe that the middle class has gotten poorer, and the rich have gotten richer over the past several years. The far extreme of social capitalism is socialism.

Libertarian/Authoritarian score: 3

You are libertarian. You think that the government is making way too many unnecessary laws that are taking away our innate rights. I have taken variations of this quiz a bazillion times, why not once more. I think it presents me more extreme than I am. I think it's biased to use phrases like "you despise..." etc. Pfft.

Libertarian/Authoritarian score: 9

You're an Authoritarian. You believe that that, left to their own, many people will do immoral or harmful things. You despise drug users, pornography, violence, and all other things that you consider immoral. You also think that security is often more important than protecting rights. You think children need to be protected from seeing these things so it doesn't warp their minds, and that the will of the majority sometimes is more important than the rights of the minority.

My scores were 3,2,3,4. I agree mostly. There are a couple questions on which I didn't like any of the options.

Any answer for 4 would seem to imply that I agree with evolution being taught in schools which I don't. Any answer for 15 implies that I think everyone is paying taxes, which they aren't. 19 seems straight forward enough but is actually highly subjective. What exactly is an imminent threat and what exactly is "starting" a war (as opposed to joining a war that is already going on, whether declared or not)?

Something I don't understand is how the second and third ideals relate to each other for many so far. For instance, mine says capitalist purist, leaving the market to do whatever it will do, while the next thing says I am all for laws.

Those who got social capitalist, it says they want the gov to give ppl jobs and healthcare, yet are next called libertarian and it says "You believe that the government's job is primarily to protect people from harming other people, but after that they should mind their own business, and if we give the government too much power in controlling our lives, it can lead to fascism."

Seems contradictory to me in both examples.

These types of surveys are just pop quizzes. I thought it was interesting that the 'maybe/don't know' category is ignored completely, especially in the data at the bottom of the page with the yes/no always equaling 100% when I know I can't be the only one that decided maybe/don't know was a good substitute for 'not enough information' or 'yes or no' do not give any weight to the complexities of the question. However, of course those who like to pop people into ideological boxes will love this quiz. ;)

It comes down to how much influence should the government have in the economy and business vs. how much influence should the government have in peoples personal lives, in what they can or can't do or what they can get access to.

Humans give names to anything and everything. Sort of making sense of all the chaos. You might criticize labelling but it does give a common point of reference when talking about something, even if its not completely accurate. I guess on the other hand, labels can be used to dismiss someone entirely.
