British police thwart major terror plot

The people arrested for trying to blow up british planes to the states were british born of asian disent. This is absolutely crazy. We are flying next week to austin, texas and now i am kinda scared.

These people are pure scum and i hope they get life and more some. I have relations who live near heathrow.

i think what i heard on sky news last night was that the men were of pakistani descent. is this not true?

I work in an airport and the cops here are wearing military-style riot gear or something. We work with the cops and they're all walking around looking like...action figures? It's a little silly. But wow, scary stuff happening.

In the UK, when people hear 'Asian' they think south asian. In the US people think East asian when they hear the term.

I agree I am from the Uk and I think of asian people coming from india, pakistan and that general area and I think of people from the far east as being oriental and coming from china, japan, thialand and that general area....

very confusing when you are here in the States...

When i said asian i wasnt sterotyping. I am just saying what i heard on the news. Arrests were made in london, birmingham and buckinghamshire. Aparently mr bush and tony blair knew about this for the last few weeks. They let it spew so they can rat out the scum and find out more infomation about the terror group involved. Most are british nationals that were arrested.

The only thing I'm skeptical about is the timing of information being released (remember when we found out about that "terrorist plot" in Florida the same day as it was revealed that the gov't is monitoring bank transactions?). But no "conspiracy theory" here.

Peter Bergen just said "I'm always concerned about citizens of Pakistani descent" on air on CNN. Watch for the CAIR alert.

UPDATE: Soledad O'Brien even pointed out that Bergen was the first to say "British Muslims of Pakistani descent" on the network this morning — that officials don't like to bring up religion especially.

Yeah, I'm skeptical about the media. I thought you thought the media was a liberal machine or something? Yet I'm still a theorist?
