I am just curious. How do we know that is really Stephen talking and not some Comedy Central writer?

My prediction is either science/technology will become so great that we will be able to visually locate and see Heaven and Hell.

Or it will just become more and more obvious and logical as the years ensue that religion was man-made from day 1. No such thing as a god, a heaven, a hell, a devil, an angel, etc....And you literally have to think about it for less than 10 seconds to realize which is the more likely scenario...

Science and religion shouldn't be in competition.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

You preach more than almost any Christian on VJ ever has. Why do you use so much energy promoting your beliefs? And your signature is obnoxiously long.

Science and religion shouldn't be in competition.

Exactly. I have never understood why one would think that the two are incompatible.

However, fundamentalists on both sides do find them incompatible, which is quite odd in my opinion.

Science, religion, and superstition are all related, in that they try to explain the Universe. One model can be as good as another, as long as it explains what is being observed. If science has all the answers, then why does each new discovery lead to us to more and more questions about the Universe?

If science had all the answers, we could shut down all the Universities around the world today cuz the job will be done.

The fact that scientific inquiry even happens is precisely because science does not have all the answers.

Now put that strawman away, it's old and tired.

I'm not 100% sure of course, but I believe that some of the issues that some scientists have with religion (and vice-versa) stems from the Creationist's interpretation of the Bible. This group of Protestant Fundamentalists have denied scientific discoveries which do not jive with their very literal interpretation of the Bible. However, this group's view of science is not the position of all Christians. It is only the view of their particular sect of Christianity.

However, and unfortunately for Christianity as a whole, this group of Christian Creationists gets a lot of press, so I suppose it is possible that a lot of scientists who are uneducated in religion as a whole could naturally consider this stance to be the stance of all Christians, which it absolutely is NOT. Hence, we have the sillyness of such statements as 'Science will win religion'...

Blessings and Progress to VJ,

BishopM
