The cool thing about fatwas is that they are LOCALIZED, at first, and usually are followed by those who follow that imman.

It's not a universal 'Islamic' law, yet.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

(June 5) -- Women in Saudi Arabia should give their breast milk to male colleagues and acquaintances in order to avoid breaking strict Islamic law forbidding mixing between the sexes, two powerful Saudi clerics have said. They are at odds, however, over precisely how the milk should be conveyed.

Al Obeikan, who made the statement after being asked on TV about a 2007 fatwa issued by an Egyptian scholar about adult breast-feeding, said that the breast milk ought to be pumped out and given to men in a glass.

But his remarks were followed by an announcement by another high-profile sheik, Abi Ishaq Al Huwaini, who said that men should suckle the breast milk directly from a woman's breast.

Now, I am wondering if it would be OK to just have a squirt in your coffee or tea?

This is why religion and state should be kept separate.

A secular government that is equidistant from all religions should govern and make laws. And the religious leaders can teach whatever they like with no legal obligation on anyone to follow them. If their teachings can inspire people to follow them then so be it.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I disagree. Instead, is an approach to being able to 'mix' gender in office environment in Saudi Arabia.

The Gospels are full of examples of the Pharisees' literal interpretation of the Torah and Jesus telling them to basically chill out. Religion should never be about a set of instruction or rules to follow blindly without requiring a person to try and sort it out using reason and logic, even though some aspects of faith are beyond reason and logic.

First, what gives you the right to say what a particular religion should or shouldn't be. If a religion wants to be all about rules and regulations, it can be just that.

Second, so what if Jesus told the Pharisees to chill out? Just because one religion is lax doesn't mean it's the standard by which all other religion must abide.

Third, by your own admission, if something can be rationalized, it's legitimate. I will give you a stark example. Had you asked Hitler why he had to kill the Jews, he would've rationalized it well. He was able to so the Germans followed his death orders.

Fourth, I'm quite sure the person who gave the ruling is far more intelligent and smart than you and I. He has a very good rationale for giving out his non-binding opinion.

Fifth, the very fundamentals of a religions are based on faith. To the religious, these are axiom on which rest of their religion is built upon. Much like mathematical axioms. Noone can prove them. They are just that, axiom. The rest of mathematics are build upon these axioms.
