found out about two hours ago that someone has gotten a hold of our check/debit card nunbers... have 500 dollars in charges already and the bank customer line is no open until tomorrow.

Omg that is terrible

I hope you can get back that money without to much hassle. I'm surprised the bank doesn't have a 24/7 number that is really crappy.

Holy #######, that stinks....I've only ahd that happen in Canada, but not here in the US. Wasn't much fun.

Not sure if u can do it with a debit card---but i have my Credit card set up that I get an email every time I use it! And its pretty much instantaneous!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

There is no option to do that with M&T. However I am glad to say that after speaking with someone this morning my card has been canceled and they will be sending me out a new one. However I have to wait till Tuesday the 13th to do fraudulent disputes due to the charges being made on a weekend and they will not "post" till the 13th. I find that stupid in so many levels as by then this person will have the merchandise. I even tried to call the places they used my card at but they cannot give me any information due to privacy laws, Ummmmm how about fruad?

I inturn call the police as I was instructed to do by the one company that refunded my money. what good that did me, They cannot do a damn thing. Go Police!
