Hi everyone.. i am a US legal permanent resident, I am planning to visit canada this summer.. anyone know the requirements? what do i need to show the boarder officer? do i still need my philippine passport? or just my state id and the legal permanent card? actually my philippine passport is already expired by the time of my travel.. what do i do?

Key is that once you get to Canada you will also return to the US. This means entry into 2 countries - each will want to see you passport so that is the first requirement. The second is your GC. Since you passport is expired you need to renew that first before going.

Actually, as a permanent resident of the US, Canada will treat you the same as a citizen. You do not need a visa or a passport to enter but you do need your green card (unless, of course, you are flying, in which case you will need a passport to be allowed on the flight). Carry your passport with you, though, even though it is expired. Returning to the US you will need your greencard and you may be asked to present your passport as well, even if it is expired. Your US spouse definitely needs a US passport, however, to re-enter the US. Enjoy your visit.
