We're just about to start AOS. My husband works out of town A LOT and I was wondering what happens when he's gone when we have the interview?? Can we re-schedule?? I'd hate for him to loose his job because of something like that.

Just wondering what happens in a case like that! His schedule is so unpredictable :( :(

If your husband does not attend the interview you will be denied and given 30 days to leave the country or appeal the denial.

You will get roughly 3 weeks notice (sometimes more) of the interview. I suggest you have him warn his superiors that at some time in the next 3 months he will need a day off and that he will give them at least 2 weeks notice.

You could of course TRY to reschedule the interview but in many cases the interview wasn't rescheduled properly and the case was considered abandoned because the people didn't arrive at their interview (the first one). You can appeal on that of course but it's a lot of hassle when a simple request for a day off, or even taking a "sick day" is all that's needed.

You are generally given a month advance notice, so that should be tons of time for him to work it out to ensure he should be home. His employer should understand the situation if he informs them of it, because if he doesn't go - he'll have to leave anyways!

I highly suggest you do NOT miss the appointment or try change it.

This should be considered the most important step of the AOS process and should be a priority.

good luck
