Hello MAS, I'm not a K1 holder but all I know is if you got married and adjust your status you can get 2yrs greencard in married name. I'm not 100% sure but that's what I heard from other friends. Try to call USCIS hotline and asked them why.

Have a bless day

Moving topic to AOS from family based visas.

OP, the green card is produced the way you submitted information in I-485. If you put down your maiden name and not your married name that's the way they're going to produce it.

Please refrain from typing in all CAPS.

When you sent off the I-485 for the AOS, did you sent it in your married name? You should have put your married name on all the forms, and your maiden name in the "prior names" section.

If you did and they just didn't do it right you can send the I-90 and get it changed for free. If you wrote your AOS forms in your married name then it is your error and you will need to pay the fee to get it changed.

As for changing your name when you ROC, it looks like you can based on this old post: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/118071-name-change-on-passport/page__view__findpost__p__1694872 where you will fill in the forms with your married name. I personally suggest you wait until then if you can't afford the fee to fix it (if it's your error) but if it's their error I would re-send the I-90 with the card, your marriage licence, and a copy of the NOA1 from when you filed AOS that would have been in your married name if that's what you put on the forms.
