Alright, my wife arrived in march 20th, just got married on May 15th.

We got the:

I-864

G-325

I-485

i-765

Applications filled out and ready to go. We are unsure how she gets a social security card. We're just wanting to make sure we have everything prepared before mailing anything out. We got this far and don't want anything ruining it! xD

Also

All the info from her medical check-up for the k-1 visa was taken at the PoE airport. She doesn't have any medical info, like proof of vaccinations. Was that in that envelope?

Thanks!

You should apply for her social security card right away because they will not process it if her I-94 is close to expiring. Does your wife have a copy of the vaccination worksheet that the doctor completed in her country? If you have that it can be taken to the civil surgeon for transcription. Otherwise the vaccinations may need to be repeated.

hi...i came here on a K-1 visa too..and ur ready to go but dont u want to fill out form I-131 for Advance Parole / Travel Document Form (so ur wife can come back to the US in case of emergency in her family and she needs to go home to her country while waiting for her GC??)its already included in the AOS fee so why not just include it??...but once she gets her Permanent Resident Card / Greencard that will suffice everything(employment and travel)...and another form G-1145 which is the E-Notification form so USCIS will inform u via email and sms that they received ur packet..this form doesnt cost a cent and its just a 1-page form

p.s regarding her SSN, she can apply now..if in case SS office doesnt want to give her SSN yet under her married name (just like what happened to me) wait till u get the AOS NOA or hardcopy of ur AOS and u can show it to SS Office and u can apply...but its better if u apply now )

good luck

The civil surgeon is going to want to see her proof of vaccinations. If she does not have that, then the civil surgeon will require her to have the vaccinations again. The form that you take to the civil surgeon that he or she is to sign states that they have reviewed her vaccination sheet from her home country and that she is good to go. Once they will out the form, they seal it in an envelope and you are to send that with you AOS paperwork. If you do not have that form, USCIS will RFE you for it. Fortunately, we had my husband's vaccination sheet but I had to call about 15 doctors before I found one that didn't want to do the entire medical exam all over again. With the K-1, the medical exam that she took in her home country, is good for a year.

Does she need a Social Security #/Card before the AoS forms are mailed in or can we get that later?

You can only get a SSN using the K1 visa as long as there is AT LEAST 2 weeks left before the I-94 expires. Once that time is up you will need to wait until your get the EAD to get a SSN.

You do not need a SSN to file AOS, however if there's still time on the I-94 get it before that expires so you can start adding your spouse to bank accounts and other things that usually require a SSN.
