What's going to happen when we can't find jobs on the Street anymore? Guess what: We're going to take yours. We get up at 5am & work till 10pm or later. We're used to not getting up to pee when we have a position. We don't take an hour or more for a lunch break. We don't demand a union. We don't retire at 50 with a pension. We eat what we kill, and when the only thing left to eat is on your dinner plates, we'll eat that.

I get less than one week.

What? Where the hell do you work? And why on earth do you work there?

After that old loser dies, the boys on the Street are going to run a train on his wife and liquidate his estate and use the money for lunch in Paris. And they're going to do it all without a wink of sleep, and you know why? Because that's how winners roll, son.

 a train

Four weeks? That's it? How do you guys manage with so little vacation time? I've got 5 weeks currently. Time you get yourself a real job.

Yes the exception.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Yes the exception.

So you're content with mainstream? Or is this sad situation what makes so upset about the country? Look, that's in your hands. I started in a job where there was no vacation time during the first year of employment. Didn't like it. Changed industries and worked my way towards something more suitable. Hint: Bitching on message boards didn't get me there.

Get a real job, man. They are out there.

I don't think most people get 5 weeks off unless they have been working somewhere a very long time usually. lol. My husband gets about 3 weeks off and that seems pretty good to me.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

I know that 5 weeks is pretty generous around here - took some time to earn it. But you can transport vacation time from employer to employer. Paid vacation time is indeed negotiable when haggling with a potential new employer. And it's worth the haggling...

on swing shift my husband used to work 2 to 3 hours of overtime a day .. sometimes more..

he recently moved to day shift and he only works maybe an hour or less overtime a day now...

his paychecks are a little smaller but his stress level is way down and we can have a somewhat more normal life now.. I think that is worth the pay cut...

he also gets 3 weeks vacation a year which is nice

Oh God, I don't stand a chance. I work on average 60 hours a week with some weeks at 70 hours. I have been doing this for 20 years now. Looks like I will leave a very good retirement to my widow at least. :crying:

that's the spirit - take one for the team! :hehe:
