Come again? Damn straight it's their business.

Have you ever read about how illegal immigrants are treated in Mexico?

I dont really care how illegal immigrants are treated in mexico, i live here, not in mexico. My point is, it is going to be a pain in the A$$ for those who live in az to get stopped repeatedly b/c they are darker skinned, and prove their legal residency. I dont find a need to put my husbands immigration status on a flag and wave it around, nor do i think he should have it stamped on his butt, around here, they actually require you to prove your immigration status to move into certain apartment complexes. I just dont think it is fair to have people's (U.S citizens and resident's )lives disrupted by stopping them repeatedly as many times as they find necessary to make sure one is legal.

The truth is, these people being stopped are not just darker in skin tone, they are also driving around in the boonies in the middle of the night or some other suspicious behavior.

The problem is.. the alternative is to continue the flood of illegals into this country.

If you feel this country has lost it's priorities on "civil Rights"... you can always relocate to "his country" and enjoy a more principled people and Government.

I am quite sure that she is aware of this. But I wonder if you are aware that as citizens and legal immigrants, she and her husband have a vested interest in what happens in their chosen country of residence.

Sounded more like she was interested in her hubbies inconvenience ... not the country.

There is such a thing as self-interest, Danno. Very few people are motivated solely by altruism.

But you were the one claiming her interest lie in what haPPENS TO THE COUNTRY.

it's seldom you see the light... so I will cherish this moment

It's a shame you're still in the dark then isn't it. Are you really this dumb in real life, or do you just act it up on VJ?

Everyone has a vested interest in what happens in their State and indeed the Country at large. Now when proposed laws potentially impact individuals - they have a vested personal interest in the outcome, regardless of any other factor.

For example, it can be argued that public services are beneficial for the country, however the folks who don't want to pay the taxes to pay for them aren't interested in the well-being of the country as much as their own pockets.

Is Sharpton getting a "finders fee" for getting undocumented aliens to present themselves voluntarily for arrest?

If I was stopped at an intersection for a dead brake light and a police officer asked me & my wife for ID,

I wouldn't think anything of it, because I am a USC and my wife is here legally. I don't think it's a crime by

law enforcement to ask for ID as this is the norm in many countries in the world. It can be done respectfully

and disrespectfully. Respectfully means with a polite & friendly attitude unless there is cause to believe that

a crime has been committed. I believe police should have the right to ask for ID, but not be disrespectful.

Asking for ID is a service to those of us who are here legally because it enhances the value of legal status.

If asking for ID in and of itself is deemed to be inappropriate for law enforcement, that degrades the value of

citizenship and lawful permanent residence. Apparently that seems to be the general rule, except in Arizona.

If the apologists for those who would never check IDs claim that the founding fathers as they envisioned

citizens' rights under the US Constitution meant that police would never check IDs because no IDs existed

in those days, that's similar to saying that all regulations of the FAA should be thrown out because there

were no airplanes in 1776. Times change and the needs of the country and it's citizens change. These

needs should be for the greater good, not only for the good of those who would degrade the value of citizenship.

I'm not talking from the standpoint of someone who has been given an exemption or "free ride" from contact

with law enforcement. I have had encounters with police that were very correct & professional as well as

encounters where I was treated with unnecessary roughness and disrespect (the officers were all of the

same race as I). Some police are equal opportunity offenders, not just disrespectful to this or that group,

but to anyone they perceive as a target. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior.

How about illegal aliens from other countries being able to utilize them for free? I sure as hell don't get access to any benefits, then again I entered the country through legal channels and actually pay more than my fair share of taxes.

Ya, no tattoos required, no flag anywhere -

but - he IS required to carry the greencard on his person. If he was in AZ, and stopped, he'd not have any problems - cause he has the proper ID to show.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
