I jus got approved last week for my 10 year greencard and we are moving this weekend. I already filled a change of address with the post office earlier this week. I assume that it's too late to change the address with USCIS. Thankfully I will have access to mail at my old address for another month or so. But what's your experience, does the mail get forwarded, returned or does it go to the old address?

Thanks a bunch.

Typically, the post office is required to send it back to uscis but sometimes they make a "mistake" and foward it. Let's hope they make that "mistake" in your case.

If a forwarding order is in place it's likely that the new GC won't make it to the mailbox and would be returned unless the above mentioned "mistake" occurs.

Going to your local USCIS office may help you in getting the address updated. Try just walking in rather than making an InfoPass appointment.

Yes. You need to notify USCIS of any address changes for as long as you're a resident.

And even if it's forward-able, do you really trust the postal service on forwarding something so important such as your greencard? cool.gif

The other day i got someone else's magic-jack order. Go figure.

My wifes 10 year GC was forwarded to our new address. I was filling out the online address change with USCIS when the approval email came, GC was sent to old address and had the yellow forwarding sticker on it when it arrived at our new address.

Same here. Did the same happen to your approval notice letter? I haven't gotten mine yet. What does USCIS do if it's sent back to them?
