I am wondering if anyone has actually received an RFE for sending passport photo's not 2X2? Obviously it makes more sense to send the photo's to the correct spec to begin with rather then risk and RFE....im just curious....

I have seen posts where they kicked back photos that are too large - how large were yours?

Smaller than 2x2, mine were UK passport size but the head dimensions like they specify were right. I have no idea what i was thinking :S

Depends how picky they are with the dimensions.

Wait and see.

(the posts I remember the pictures were larger than normal)

I had mine done at a UPS store. They used an ancient Polaroid camera with 2 lenses (so it can take two photos simultaneously) that was specifically designed for taking passport photos. You get the head lined up with the graticule in the viewfinder, and it will spit out two perfect pics exactly to US passport specs. Also, the smell of the Polaroid pics made me a little nostalgic.

My wife had hers done in Vietnam. They were 1/2" too narrow, 1/2" too tall, and with a pale blue background. Her head was approximately the right size, though. No RFE's from CSC for them. She used the same photos at the consulate, and also had no problems.

If you're asking this question before sending the petition, then as you said in your first post, why risk it? You may get an adjudicator with a bee in his bonnet, and who is waiting for your petition with a stack of RFE notices and a micrometer. If you're asking this question after sending the petition, then just relax. Get some new photos prepared, just in case you get an RFE (you'll need 'em at the consulate anyway).

Old enough to remember the kind you had to peal? Seems like a 100 years ago, but the smell does bring back memories. :D

I do recollect reading about an RFE for passport style photos but it was not because of the size, it was because the photo was head shot only and did not meet the specified requirements of the picture part.

We had photos taken in VN and they were off size a little but were accepted. They were the "normal" size for that typw of photo in VN - I dont remember the actual dimensions but similar to the case with paper - a little narrow and a little tall.
