Hey all, wasn't sure where to post this so here it is.

My husband and I are looking to relocate in the next few years. We're considering the Austin TX area right now, but are certainly open to other places.

If you love where you live, I'd love to hear from you about where you are and why. I'd prefer to discuss the details in a PM really, but didn't know how else to get the word out.

Thanks guys! ;)

I spent a significant amount of time in Austin back in 2000. I enjoyed the city very much. I don't know if I'd move there, but that's a personal preference. The things I liked about Austin - the Mexican food, the music, and the city and surroundings are quite picturesque. The things I didn't like was the client I had to work for. All flash, little substance.

Personally, if I had to relo anywhere it would be to a major metropolitan area. Austin isn't quite big enough. Major metros come with a lot more traffic and tend to be more expensive but the flip side is a substantially broader economic base, which translates into more economic opportunities. I'm not looking for a place to do any job but a place where there are lots of good jobs. In Texas, the DFW and greater Houston areas are both very good examples.

If you have lots of $$$, Austin (North) is great.

If you don't have lots of $$$, Austin (South) is great.

Austin is divided by income ;)

Darnell, I have cousins in Round Rock. They love it. I have no idea how that fits in to the north/south division though. Based on realtor.com results it seems very affordable.

ps. I know it's a suburb and not actually Austin.

you've been gone for 10 years ... and are an expert? ... wow...

maybe your cousins have better intel than you and should be posting ....

last time i was thru there (in 2007) construction in north austin seemed to be at a feverish pace along i-35. not so on the southside of austin.

however, i do recall seeing plenty of porn shops on the southside of austin along i-35, so for me the southside might be more appealing :P
