DS 230 Submission Requirements

Hi All,

Im at the NVC stage of my CR-1 for my wife and will be receiving the DS 230 cover sheet soon to submit to the NVC. I would like to know what the NVC is looking for in this packet. Should I include everything I sent with the original I-130 packet (passport copies, birth cert, passport photos, marriage cert, wedding and honeymoon pics)? For those that are interviewing at Mumbai consulate, what are they looking for in this packet? Please advise.

Compare the list to the things you've listed - you should see the differences from what you've listed to what is required. This would be an excellent time to read all 7 pages there, as well.

Specifically for India - there are 2 types of police clearance certificates.

Will I need to submit originals of birth/marriage certs. to the NVC or can my wife bring it with her to the interview in Mumbai? I am a little concerned about sending originals of anything to a government office! Thanks!

Originals. We all did it and none of us were thrilled about it.

No two ways around it. Too many people have been RFEd for sending notarized/attested copies.

Your original documents will be returned to at the conclusion of the interview.

and don't forget the NVC case number...if they get misplaced, hey you never know.... It's a pain I know but I did it and it gives me peace of mind knowing that if they end up at someone elses desk by accident they will know who he is....

A friend of mine called last night, that the NVC did not have an original divorce document, and for him to send one. He had sent an original and 2 copies with the DS 230. So now he has to wait to receive another original from his wife.......

How many originals NVC needed??? As per instructions, only 1 original and 1 photocopy is enough. These people are crazy
