Can I complain about my Driver's License and SSN name change now?? :D I went to SS office to change my name to my married name in April and they couldn't verify the name change until USCIS approves. I went this morning with my brand new EAD and they can't verify my EAD either! I have to wait AGAIN! In the meantime, no DL until I get name changed on SSN! I'm pulling my hair out as we speak! There is practically no public transport here and if there is one, I haven't seen it! So if I get invited for a job interview, how am I going to get there? Hubby works! crying.gif

Congrats everyone on good changes in your journey!

Congrats everyone on good changes in your journey!

I was wondering what was the process of changing your name? Because dont the documents from immigration come with the unmarried name?

EAD card came yesterday. AOS next i hope.

My kid was at the embassy this morning. on K2 to follow. They asked him lots of questions. ANd then asked to prove that our relationship is legit.

Had to scramble in the middle of the night and make PDF documents to email to the embassy. Just received an email back that they got the additional info. I wonder why they asked a child to prove that. He has nothing to do with it.

EXAMINE WHAT YOU BELIEVE TO BE IMPOSSIBLE, THEN CHANGE YOUR BELIEF !!!

If you want to change your name to your married name you should fill out your AOS paperwork in the new name and they send your EAD, AP and GC in the new name. I had a SSN from before we were married and now I want to change the name on it, but they won't let me until my EAD card is verified. I don't know how long it takes to verify it and why it needs to be verified, it came from USCIS!

She got the EAD production ordered & AP sent June 16.

Of the two, the AP is more important as she hopes to travel to Thailand in 2 weeks for

her son's university graduation.

I remember my college graduation and I only have a pic with me and my grandmother.

My parents were there but that was the end of the "freaky 60's" and there was a disconnect

with parents to some extent but I would give my eyeteeth for a "do-over" of that day.

I can see how important it is to her to be there.

Great! AP is usually fast. should bethere by the end of the week/beginningof next one! They sent mine through 1st class mail.

I am glad she will be able to attend her son's grad!

Congrats everyone on good changes in your journey!

That happened to me as well! I have a friend who was actually able to changer her SSN before her EAD, but after 3 visits to the Orlando SSA and speaking with the officer manager, they wouldn't do it for me. I hope my EAD gets here before my Ontario DL expires on July 10th!!! The DMV can't do anything for me because my SSN name does not match with all my AOS papers. Fun, fun, fun!

Yeah, my ALberta driver's license expired 2.5 weeks ago that's why I'm so desperate. Girls at SoS are working really hard to get me one, but they can't do anything until the higher powers approve and I don't think they will! I don't know how long it's going to take until EAD can be verified
