Not to mention your taxes....on everything.

Taxes already reflect the cost of the uninsured. Having 95% of the population insured is going to reduce costs because preventative care is much cheaper than emergency room visits for ear infections.

yea, and that's Bush's fault!

It doesn't matter who's fault it is... it only matters that it will happen.

Blame someone if you must but then shut up and get to work fixing the problem.

Trying to remove all the social programs is not an viable solution either.

The single responsibility of government is to take care of its citizens.

Steven, my man, when wingnuts foam at the mouth and attack you like the rabies-infested canines that they are, you'd do well to remember this...

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

I bet you and Steven never had any milk with your lunch in school.

Wrong.

See: US Constitution

The job of the government is to leave its citizens alone and make sure they live in a safe enviroment from outside interference. The government's job is to make sure that its citizens aren't getting screwed over, not being the one's who are screwing the citizens over.

LIMITED FEDERAL POWERS. So many people don't seem to get this concept.

I don't agree really. That is what it has become, but I think government is there to provide law and order first and foremost. Nothing is free. I am not sold on this health care bill, still. I am worried about it, still. The founding fathers wanted a less involved government in their lives after bad experiences. I don't however think the health care reform=socialism or communism. I am just a little iffy about it all, still. And I even have lots of relatives who currently don't have and can't afford insurance.

Behold! He comes.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

so every citizen has the right to keep and bear arms, what if they can't afford to buy a gun or the ammo? shall we have a government program to help correct that?

What is unfortunate about this situation is that the insurance companies have gotten so powerful and it almost seems we as consumers couldn't do anything about it. Why couldn't we have treated it like other companies? The people make their choices, boycotting places they feel are doing wrong, making companies financially suffer for not satisfying their customers. Also, doctors get to make you wait forever in their offices because there seems to be a huge lack of the idea of customer service in the medical industry. You have to just like what you get. You CAN leave and go see a different Dr, however where I live almost everyone has long waits. We as consumers of medical care should have figured out a way to change the industry without the government's involvement. But that seems impossible to think about now.

I won't shut up and I have been working to fix the problem. I pay for everything I get myself, and part of the problem is that a lot of people don't think they have to. They are the problem.

The single responsibility of government is to protect the borders and the sovereignity of the state. It is not the responsibilty of the government to nany its citizens. That's what's wrong with your kind of thinking. Self-sufficiency is the best social program.

I bet you and Steven never had any milk with your lunch in school.

I'll bet bullies took his lunch money. That's why he feels so helpless that the government should protect him from all of us bullies who want him to take care of himself.

The problem is, is government has been trying to 'fix' a health care system that didn't need fixing to begin with. If you follow the yellow brick road back to its source, you will see that almsot all issues regarding costs today come from health care regulation, insurance regulation, etc. --- Take government out of it and return it to doctors/patients and none of this would be an issue.

Anything that's wrong in the industry is a State issue, not a federal issue.

LIMITED FEDERAL POWERS. So many people don't seem to get this concept.

If that truly were the case, then why is "family values" such a linchpin in republican platforms? If the role of government is not to care for its citizenry and such, why do politicians characterize some of the activities of its citizens in their own homes as moral turpitude? If the founding fathers really wanted a limited government, then Libertarians are right, and the republicans are JUST as wrong as democrats. Lets be honest here, republicans dont' spend less than democrats, they just spend it in different places.

If you think that our healthcare system is not in need of fixing, then you are either delusional, or have lived a very, very sheltered life.

That;s because, like Barry, they see the Constitution as a document of negative rights, not allowing the government to control more and limit your rights with "benevolent" social programs that limit your choices because the government knows what's best for you.

I like what Ben Franklin said about nannyists: Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
