I'm at the last stage of my Fiance visa process. Would you think its ok for me to use a sharpie to black out private information such as social security number, bank account numbers, etc. before sending both the I-129F packet and the I-134 packet? I'm not sure if I can trust the Philippines postal service/fedex with such sensitive documents. Please let me know what you think....will I be ok just sending as is or should I black things out?

Thank you.

Absolutely not. If you don't trust the postal service use a courier or your carry-on luggage.

I'll be using fedex however would you advise against blacking out some of my personal information just in general?

Consulate needs to see your personal information, so blacking it out is not an option

ok thanks for the help everyone. one last question, does anyone have any recommendations on what courier service I should use to ship to the Philippines? Like is fedex or DHL safe?

Either. DHL are trusted by the NVC to ship your documents to your respective embassy and Fed-Ex are used by 1000s of companies all over the world.

They're not going to know/ bother about what you're sending, as long as it compiles with their mailing regulations.

Is there LBC in your place? If there is that's the best way to used also aside from DHL and FEDEX. I'm not sure if fed ex still works in the Philippines since they move to China i guess. :)

One very big difference between DHL & the other international courier services is that DHL has their own employees in the Philippines whereas FEDEX, UPS etc all contract with local carriers.

This may not sound like a big difference but it really comes into play if something goes awry. I've had two issues with PH Customs, when DHL was involved they corrected the problem, UPS's local contracted service (Air21) basically said "So What" and UPS couldn't do anything either.

The only company I've ever had trouble with - on an unrelated issue - was DHL, and I've found fed-ex to be quite reliable, personally. My husband sent all documents that we needed through fed-ex to Britain and we had no leaks that way. I don't know if the trouble I had with DHL (misdelivery of goods) is common, but I have found a number of reviews online that didn't take well to the local office in London at least. If you want to find the most reliable courier in your area, you should try looking at review websites maybe and see who messes up least?

I like to burn things.

Absolutely, positively FEDEX is the best!

Let's let Pushbrk in on this, so he won't have to use his own luggage or private carrier!

The best courier is you in your carry-on luggage. Short of that, I would give the edge to DHL but only an edge over FedEx.

The purpose of asking for the personal information is because they need it. Don't black it out.
