We submitted ours with no dates on them. (Our cameras do not stamp dates on photos, and plus, it's really easy to photoshop that in, so it doesn't carry as much weight as it used to).

Just write the date and place on the back of the photo and you will be fine.

You need to fill in your timelines for future help so members know where your at in the process.

If your just filing your I-129F you really don’t need that many photos at this point, take five or six and print color copies with discretions of whose who and the locations of the photos.

Our photos had no dates, on the back of the photos I wrote the dates in pen and wrote the names of all the people in the photos as well as wrote the place the photos were taken at and the time of year.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

We did exactly that.

Our NOA-2 just got approved, so I think it works fine.

Then again, I dunno.....we included so much stuff on top of that. And yet again, we didn't include a letter of intent.

I'm just saying, photos probably won't brake or make the petition. Just date them, sign the names of any people on there besides you two and who they are (cousins, aunts, uncles, friends), place taken, etc.

Yes, we frontloaded like WHOAH... Out of the principle we didn't include the letter of intent, and that made me go crazy for 100 days.... At least now I know it's not necessary.

We included 16 photos. Affidavits from everyone who ever saw us together in 3 different countries. SMS history (ALL of it), bunch of emails. Two personal statements, i.e. description of relationship. I'm sure by the time I bring the rest of the stuff to our interview it'll be as thick as yours. I intend on hauling tons of stuff, even though I'm damn sure they'll never ask for any of it!

You're probably jumping to conclusions. They probably accepted your "personal statements" in lieu of what are referred to on this site as "letters of intent". The I-129F instructions specifically say you must provide original statements from you and your fiance(e), in addition to any other evidence you want to provide, establishing your mutual intent. Be careful advising people that it's not necessary. If you had not included those "personal statements", or if the adjudicator concluded that they did not establish your mutual intent, you could have just as easily gotten an RFE for this.

BTW, I'm curious what 'principle' you based your decision on when you chose not to include letters of intent?

All of our photos were digital and I put them into power point slides and added dates, places, titles and events to idnetify who, when, where, what. We had no problems using this method at the petition or interview stage, everything was accepted and there were no questions.

You could also do this with some photo software package - lots of options - if you chose to go that route.

Otherwise, its acceptable to write names and dates on the back of the photos.

We included about 5 photos with handwritten dates.

Believe it or not, photos are considered secondary evidence. Nice to have, but not necessary. I know of several couples who were approved without sending in ANY photos!

Basically, the photos are to show you HAVE been in the same place at the same time. What you have written on the actual forms (as far as dates go), carries more weight than the date stamp on any photos.

And... I think they have the common sense to realize that camera dates aren't always accurately set, and that photos can be manipulated.

in our case we sent only 6 photos, with names, date and place taken, photos are considered secondary evidence, so don't worry, better focus in the documents & forms that are most important to submit the petition

I am sorry if it came off like that. In no way would I ever advise anyone not to include it.

My point was, I guess, that they view different things as "letters of intent". Doesn't have to be a uniform thing, found here on VJ (even though it's nice and neat).

So yes, everyone should include that sort of thing with their petition. If anything - it's not going to hurt your chances.

Again, I apologize if it seemed like I was giving advice like that. Even though it could have been construed as one the way I wrote it.

The principle in my head was, that writing that letter of intent was as useful as writing one, drunk, in a bar on a napkin. (An IOU on a napkin, if you'd like to view it that way).

So instead I just wrote a letter explaining how our relationship started and that we'd love to get married here in the States.

In essence, I wrote the same thing, except in a different format. It was the format of the letter of intent here on VJ that put me off.

My fiancee wrote her statement akin to mine too.

I know that the format on VJ works and has worked for many other people before, and will work for many after. It was just our choice to not use it. Also, our personal statements just mentioned that we would like to get married once the visa is recieved, so yes, in essence, it was the same thing.

Ok. Your objection was to the VJ example letter, and not to the requirement that you have to provide some sort of statement. I can understand that. The VJ example letter is somewhat cold and sterile. Whoever designed it probably had in mind meeting the minimum requirements of the I-129F, and no more.

Yes - it is somewhat cold and sterile - but the government works in a similar way.

They just want the facts, nothing but the facts, love stories, however touching, just confuse the issue, straight answers help expedite the issue.

My own statement was barely two lines.

(so says the USCIS case worker looking at number 1000000 K-1 coming across the desk...)

Actually, there is a rejection on the USCIS site for a K-1, because the petitioner gave to much detail, and they were caught up in a timing issue. (2 year meeting) - so to much info, in this case, was a bad day for them.

I will see if I saved the link - interesting read - the rejection files - I recommend it for bored people :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS
