Generally speaking, it isn't worth risking your life to defend material things.

I'm a material being, and as such, need material things to survive. My home: shelter from the elements, natural as well as human; material thing. There are a lot of good reasons for owning a gun, but obtaining a false sense of security isn't one of them.
