CALLING NVC TO CHECK ON YOUR CASE

I have noted that people have had trouble calling NVC direct to get info on whether their case is still there, etc. I called the 202 area code number and was told by the lady that that is NOT NVC, although she did check on my case and tell me the Bangkok number assigned to it. I told her that the 603-334-0700 NVC number was always busy and she told me she has heard that complaint a lot and when she has called it she gets through. Now maybe it's cause she is another federal govt. agency and somehow gets connected.

At any rate, I got through to NVC tonight and the lady was very, very nice and helpful and told me the best times to call them is after 7pm EST to about 9pm EST and at 9 the call volume increases again, or calling about 11:40pm EST. They stop answering the phone after midnight. So maybe this will be helpful to some of you trying to check on your case. She told me my case arrived Monday the 1st and could be there anywhere up to two weeks but they try to get them in and out fast and I could try calling back Friday to check and see if it had been sent out. She confirmed my email address and said I would be notified by email anyway when the case was sent out.

Hope this helps some of you.

Hi, thanks for the information. We had our Visa approved on the same day it seems, February 25th...but, I too contacted the NVC using the number which is always busy, (amazingly making it through) I got through last night to the automation and then tonight as well, with no luck...my application hasn't been received yet. So, I wait...What number did you call with the 202 area code? My Visa is going through Ciudad Juarez in Mexico after the NVC, so there is still some waiting to be had there as well. Either way, good luck.

Michael

Thank you Tom! I also have a NOA2 date of February 25 and NVC still hasn't received my case. I called this morning and talked to someone after being on hold for 40 mins. She told me to call when I get the NOA2 letter. Interesting I guess. Thank you again and good luck!

The number was 202-663-1225. The lady here said she was not NVC but was able to look up my case using the EAC number and gave me the BNK number and said I needed to call the NVC number. This number is listed under CONTACT US along with the other number.

I love the NVC and it's automation. I wake and work early, so I have found little issue with the 'busy' line of the NVC...but, my notice of NOA2 was February 25, much like a lot of others in this lineup, and as of 5:30AM Friday morning, it has not been received yet. So, I believe all I can do is wait till Monday.

For everyone else waiting on the same thing, how's the list of items to ready for the interview going? Like me, are you thinking about 'packet 3' too much? Ha!!!

Chin up everyone, till Monday.

I got the text message from USCIS on the 25th, NVC got it on Monday the 1st and I was able to get my BNK number the same day. Confirmed the number Wed. night when I finally got through to NVC but the case was still lounging there. Finally got my NOA2 from Vermont the 4th, a week after they texted me. Seems the mail room is very slow getting the mail out. The lady at NVC also said I would get email notification instead of regular mail when they are done with it and confirmed my email address. No need to call them every day and tie up the lines.

I had also received an e-notification for my NOA2 on February 26th and I received my hard copy on March 3rd. I have not yet called NVC, although I think I will do so on Monday. The thought of gathering documents for packet 3 had stressed me out for 2 days but I am fine now. I am throwing half of the work onto my fiance :)

Join the March 2010 NVC thread, y'all?

Is there a Mar 2010 NVC thread? Just got our NOA2 dated Mar 9, 2010...soooo I guess we're in... :hehe:

We're K1 and I just spent a lot of time reading NVC guides that are mainly CR/IR, 130s.... It seems we have, for the most part, a quick turn around in NVC? Barring any unusual circumstances.
