Getting married in a week

Hi DCFers,

My fiance and I are getting married in a week. I would like to know what we can start doing now--what docs we can begin gathering/filling, specifically--to be as prepared as possible for when we get that first appt.

We are under a bit of time pressure because we are taking the dog, and found out that there is a travel embargo on dogs between May 15 and Sept 15. Bogota told me that DCF should take no more than 2 months, but I just want to get anything rolling that we can.

If there's a link anyone can send me to, that would be fine...

Make sure the non-USC has police certs from any country he's lived in for longer than 6months,andproof of vaccinations, and of course all certs (birht cert, divorce certs if applicable etc).

Check out the embassy's website and download all the forms and checklists, so you can look them over and start gathering your documents. Sometimes it takes a while to get things like police certificates, long form birth certificates, certified marriage certificates, etc. Also, the forms can be difficult to fill out if you don't have a great memory, as they ask for addresses from back since you were a teenager, and lots of dates. Good luck! Have a great marriage day!

Thanks guys. I guess my concern now is doing things too early. I know that certain things (police record, travel record, even vaccination) cannot be done too soon in advance or they will be unacceptable. Any way I can find out about this? Or do I have to call the embassy? Our embassy only answers the phone between 2 and 4 on Wednesdays, and I am teaching class at that time.

Any suggestions appreciated!!

For consulate purposes:

Police reports valid for 1 year

medical exam valid for 6 mos

vaccinations valid for a lifetime (some just require a boost or are a part of a series)

YMMV
