Proof of citizenship

According to VJ's K1 checklist it says that for proof of citizenship using a passport

to include

"a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport issued with a validity of at least 5 years"

Is that really necessary? There are like almost 30 pages, most of which are blank, with several pages of just passport information.

Can someone clarify if I can just send in like the bio pages, and the pages actually stamped with visa arrival and deptarture date?

Thanks!

They require all pages of the passport, including blank pages and front and back. Members have received RFEs for not including such.

You need to send all pages, even the blank ones, to show there isn't some stamp on some page revoking it or something.

Cost me a F#$%ing fortune to copy all mine, since I used the color copier at kinkos. But at least I was sure there was no doubt about my citizenship.

Yes, if a US citizen wants to use the passport as the proof of the US citizenship, then copies of all pages need to be sent. But, in order to avoid copying so many pages, one can simply submit a copy of his/her birth certificate (for a born US Citizen) or a copy of his naturalization certificate (for a naturalized US Citizen). Either of these 3 documents will be enough for a US citizenship proof.

I had submitted my naturalization certificate's photocopy for my US citizenship proof and it went perfectly fine.

Wow! Ok, Does it have to be a color copy of the passport???

Also, I have a certified copy of my birth certificate, but it's only 1 sided, and it has a stamp that says "This is a true certified copy of the record......" So if I sent in a copy of that, would that be just as good too?

Thanks!

Am not sure off hand about the requirement of color copy of the passport.

Yes the BC will be fine, but get a copy of the blank side as well and just write 'this side is blank'

You do need to photocopy all pages.

The purpose for this is to capture all of the information contained within and to include the amendments and endorsements section in the back. Even if pages are blank, they will not know that, unless you send them a copy.... does that make sense?

It does not need to be in color.

A point of clarification: To cancel a passport, the State Department will clip the corners of the photo/information page or punch holes accross the machine readable section. This is what you can ask for when you renew a passport. If you have visa's or entry "chops" that are sentimental to you, they will cancel the passport and return it to you along with your new one.

If the passport gets revoked, they take it away from you.

You need to send all pages, even the blank ones, to show there isn't some stamp on some page revoking it or something.
