FEBRUARY 11--Meet Westley Strellis. For unknown reasons, the Georgia man yesterday afternoon smashed 29 flat-screen televisions during a rampage at a Walmart in suburban Atlanta. After grabbing an Easton baseball bat from the store's sporting goods section, the 23-year-old Strellis strolled up an electronics department aisle bashing the TVs, according to a Lilburn Police Department report. Cops sought to question Strellis following his arrest, but he cited his Fifth Amendment right to not answer questions, so the motive for his vandalism--which was captured on a store surveillance camera--is unknown. The police report notes that the suspect was carrying a bottle of Effexor XR, a prescription medicine Strellis said, "treats depression." The destroyed televisions are valued at about $22,887, though Strellis's spree caused additional damage to Walmart shelves, according to cops. Strellis, pictured in the below mug shot, was booked into the Gwinnett County jail and charged with 29 counts of criminal damage to property. (3 pages)

I saw his pics. He appears really depressed. Maybe he keeps looking at himself on a mirror and that stirred the depression. When he saw his face on the blank TV, the depression was triggered. :P

Thank god he has HC or god only knows what this thread would turn into.

He was high on definition.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Blog entry from a person who hates TV. Maybe the writer has something to do with the guy in the original post.

Because it's supposed to be relaxing but it makes you tense. It's like putting perfume in the toilet - it doesn't get rid of the smell - just covers it up temporarily with another smell which usually isn't very nice either. People are always saying things like: "I just want to have some time to relax in front of the TV, it's so nice to just switch off". If filling your head with (usually) mindless rubbish is relaxing and consitutes switching off, then what is it that needs to be switched off - what's going on in their head that they want to block it out so much?

Because it manipulates your mind. It's full of adverts which people get paid a lot of money for just to make you do things you don't really want to do.

Because it kills childrens' brains and sensitivity.

Because it's addictive.

Because most of it is bollocks particularly in Italy.

Because people put it on without considering whether their neighbours want to hear it too. I have developed a special machine (an mp3 on my laptop), which I call "the Rossanitizer" after my neighbour (who BTW is really nice), which plays white noise quite loudly so I don't have to listen to that ####### every evening. It's a bit like passive smoking I suppose.
